Probably because 360 is doing quite well in those 2 countries. If I'm correct, the LTD of 360 in US is around 40m while the PS3 is just around 20-25 million. No idea about the sales in UK but the split might probably the same. Hence why people were saying that but it will all change in this next-gen.

PS4 - 250K
PSP - 185K
PS3 - 165K
Xbox One - 150K
3DS - 113K
Wii - 105K
NDS - 87K
Xbox 360 - 70K
PSV - ~40K
Wii U - 40K
I find it interesting that the chart doesn't show the PS2 numbers. Now those would be interesting to compare with.

I had a good laugh @ Knack outselling Mario this week in the UK. The Wii U is done lmao.

The 360 flogged the PS3 in the UK just like it did in America, while Europe was more Wii/PS3 land the UK was the big exception.

Europe's pretty much going to stay Sony, I mean the PS3 outselling the 360 says it all, Japan is becoming irrelevant, America is still up for grabs, but MS need to make big calls (drop Kinect) soon.

Edit - #dead @ this.

As usual it's probably restricted by supply.

Based on the breakdown, they diverted another 300k+ to North America for Black Friday.

They really, really want to regain back USA.

So then we can estimate their production capacity as being roughly 1 million a month, then?

I would put out the following estimation:

China : 1 million a month
Japan : 100k-200k a month

There's a small amount of Japan-made units out in the European wilderness, which implies that Sony probably had to increase production on their own supply chain instead of just China's.

I am guessing that they would be shipping at least 200k to the Asian countries for December Asian launch, while allocating all the rest to fulfill demand at US/UK/EU.

Can anyone with a PS4 tell me how Gaikai works in more detail? I was told that PS3 games would be available for play through the service.

Gaikai doesn't launch till 2014, and details of the implementation is non-existent.

Pretty much only that, the "plan" as of what we know now is that Sony's using Gaikai as a surrogate for PS3 games backward's compatibility and allowing you to play PS3 games on your PS4 through their cloud service. Beyond that no one (except Sony and Gaikai) knows anything. Service won't start proper until Q3-4 next year, which is the prospective timeframe for rolling out the American service.
