I don't think the volume title would denote whether the series is harem or not. I think that the volume title (The God-Slayer Alchemist and the Immoral Holy-Virgin) only denotes that the volume is about the main character Lyle and the girl Claire.

Yeah. The Volume title shouldn't be used as a clue for something like this anyway. Let alone the title of the first Volume.

I just finished volume 14 2 days ago. I took a break before posting this to try to balance my positive and negative thoughts about this volume and the overall (well consider this as me getting out of "excitement drunk" and "super salty mode"). Anyway, here are the thoughts (and some potential salt):

Spoiler for Let's start with the positives:

-Final battle really feels like a final battle. I mean, it's one VS an army + the final boss and they're all from three great mythologies (at least for this series). Sure it may not seem like a one vs an army since Kazuki is getting "indirect support" but that "indirect support" is more of opening up his accessibility to their abilities. Besides, he's the one that's doing the fighting in this fight so I can consider this one vs army on this scene. I mean, how awesome can you get when trying to run to the final boss while kicking everyone that gets in his way's ass?

Also, let's not forget the "encouragement lines" from various cast in this final fight. It kind of reminds me of Fire Emblem series' final chapters.

Ideal talks between Lucifer and Kazuki? Alright. Though I can somewhat see how the flow of the conversation is going to go (guess I'm not as surprised to things anymore given the amount of fictions I read already)

-One of good epilogues I've read so far. It tells us the aftermath while implementing some fanservice. Koyuki seems to be the longest out of the 4-5 scenes. Too bad that Lotte didn't have one despite doing the deed on her already (maybe some people find it alright since they don't wanna succumb to the dark side).

It's pretty nice to see how the former kings are when at school. Seems that some of them have their own perks this time (one of them is, to me, seeing Hrotsvit throwing tantrum seems to be kind of a hilarious change compared to when contracted with Odin before).

Anyway, about dat very end, congratz to Kazuki (?)

Spoiler for And here are some negatives/complaints/nitpicks:

-About the Agreas level 10s he gained, why does it lacked detail and explained effect on it? Throughout the series, good amount of level 10s are properly explained on how they function but this one barely have any form of explanation especially if the ability is RELATED TO TIME, which could be a complex type of power. Is it some form of time leap? How does it exactly work in this spell's case? How did it exactly prevented the attack from Regina? Sure, there's this quote:

「O the principle of time, fly……! Tempus Fugit(Transcendence)!!」

The pocket watch Agares was holding scattered apart.

The time was scattered──following Kazuki’s will.

Typhon’s 『Armagest』 activated──that overwhelming magic phenomenon activated and passed away──leaping over to the moment when Kazuki and others finished everything.

And this is the best detail we'll ever get out of in terms of explanation regarding the ability, which is just as vague as it is.

-The way they tried to give Regina a little backstory and the way Loki lost felt rushed. To be honest, I was expecting Regina to be a little bit more fleshed out but given how it has to end in a volume, that seems impossible

-As much as I liked the final battle, there are some things that kind of irked me no matter what even if it's a little:

The main one is the Revive spell. I know that it could be a lifesaver but the problem is that this spell lacked detailed rules behind it. I mean, does it have to be invoked beforehand if applied to the caster itself so it can auto-revive when the caster dies? If this was the case, how much time does the "buff" last? Also, I know that it cost a lot but how much of his magic power/mana would it cost for him if used for reviving himself at this point then? How many times can he use it given his current resources? I guess at this point we can consider it that he can cast it while he's dead.

But the question is in within what time limit does the caster have to cast the spell itself after dying before they cannot revive themselves back through the spell anymore if such condition exist?

And here's my hunch regarding revival abilities that lacked rules at least.

Also, as much as I liked seeing Kazuki going one man army in that final fight, it felt kind of a bummer how all of the divas he's fighting are dropping like fodders while not pulling something special other than "shoot magic at him" that it may seem like just as good as a "valley of projectiles" thanks to not describing most of it. I'll be honest here, I was expecting for some them to throw something amazing at least for the named ones especially for some of the well known named angels and/or bodhisattvas.

-As much as I like how the epilogue gave some of the heroines the "scene," now here's my complaint: Why no Kazuha epilogue? She's one of the heroines (if not the only) heroine Kazuki had to put up a lot of work to conquer and yet she didn't get one aside from a scene where she's working at a daycare? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?

I know that there are circumstances why it's like this but to me, rushed is rushed no matter what are the circumstances are.

I know that some people may not really care about the battle side of things and only pay attention to the harem side of this because it's a harem series but I'll be honest here. I know I complain about some stuff on the battle side of things but personally, I find battles to be just as important since depending on the result, especially if the series have battles to get through the conflict, it can affect the flow of events which is just as important as a piece of a plot.

Okay, I was a little bit mean on that part but I'll be honest here. To me, volume 14 seems like it could be a good rough draft for the finale. As much as it felt rushed, I have to admit that the series ended in a good note on the top of attempting to give it a proper closure.

Personally, I think that fleshing out all the kings better while having better interaction with Kazuki beforehand (doesn't have to be ecchi or anything) may have improve the atmosphere better during the encouragement lines. i wish they should have done this in earlier volumes and if this series gets another 2-3 more volumes at least.

As for whether my overall impression to wards the series has changed or not, I already stated that the climax would make a difference. Anyway, here's my answer:

My overall impressions towards the entire series might not be as high as it used to be but given how it really did it's best closing the series I could still say that it's one of the amazing harem series I finished up to date.

I guess it can have my award for the "best rushed but properly closed final volume"

Now regarding what's ahead, there are mentions in the ending about putting the chip into their brain to be able to pull off something similar to magic. What I can tell about this is that the author seems that he's trying to open up for a possible series that may take place in the same universe, may it be in a form of a sequel, a spin-off, or a series that takes place in another era (probably like Gundam?). Anyway, their idea seems to be a new gateway to more future problems for them but at the moment it's just going to be a mere speculation at this point.

Also, is it just me that this could potentially lead to a creepy bad ending?

As for the manga adaptation, it would be nice if they could improve it with that medium but I personally won't count on it.

Regarding the author's future series:

So he's publishing a series called War of the Heroes in the Re-Orchestrated World and it's going to be about Gods vs Heroes. Anyway, if this is going to be a series where battles would play a role of how the flow of events would just like most series that have good amounts of battles in them (just like Magika and others), the author better have proper rules when it comes to implementing abilities this time. As for whether this is going to be a harem or not, I personally don't care. As long as there's something that would make me look forward towards the destination like the ultimate goal of the series, then it's all good as long as it doesn't try to cheat it's way to it. Sure there are specific genre that I'm not into but that's up to me if I would approach it or not.

Anyway, I may have to wait for couple of volumes before deciding to pick it up

And as for his plans to release another work with MF Bunko while releasing this new series with Fujimi Shobo, yep, I guess we can expect bigger gap in terms of release dates than usual unless he can go Kamachi.

One of the things I also wanted to state now that the series has ended, people seem to be comparing him to other harem MCs out there on the top of criticizing them. Okay, I understand that there are some of them that are slow and some of them gets on their nerves (Ichika) and it's alright, but I'll be honest here. Kazuki had some form of a "cheat" and a certain incentive that's implemented by the series to make him focus on the harem side of things. Don't get me wrong but I still acknowledge that he's still able to learn and be able to handle it well as the series goes on, which makes him an amazing harem MC in my book.

Anyway, now that the series have ended, I just wanted to address this but what you guys find things to be "plotholes" and the "flaws" for this series?

@Krudelu: I actually agree completely. It does seem rushed. Some more time devoted to the former Kings' relationship with Kazuki would've been great. I'm happy for Alyssa, but all we know about Hrotsvit, Fu Xi, Beatrix and Ililya is that they'll be closer to him in the future and will "do it" which him later on. Ililya just can't be honest yet, but she'll come around. But yeah, again, that's all we got on them. And I especially agree about Kazuha.

I want to see what happens with the chip embedded in the human brain, so hopefully the author will write about that as well. And yeah, for his new work that's coming up now about Heroes vs. Gods, I, too, will wait at least one Volume before reading it. I don't like how the "heroes" seem kind of bad, though. Rape? I mean, really?

That ain't Kazuki's business for several years at least.

He has no authority or say till he becomes a politician or something, at then end he is just what Lucifer told him he is. A kid from a First World Country who can live with luxuries.

What can he do? That's the job of politicians and people of authority and we simply had no POV from them at the epilogue (Probably the final mistake in the novel)
