Kare Kano is really really good for the first 3/4 then it gets a little strange near the end. I love the hyper-kinetic presentation, and the opening and ending themes are ridiculously catchy.
Ai Yori Aoshi is really good at the beginning, then loses steam in the middle, and gets good again at the end. Kaoru and Aoi are almost as good of a couple as Yukino and Souichiro from Kare Kano. Nodame Cantabile is good as well, although some of the music sequences go on a little long for my liking, but I'll let it slide since they're usually well done. Ah! My Goddess has its moments, and Keiichi and Belldandy make a great couple, but I'm not a big fan of the glacial pace of their relationship. Still, it's a fun series to watch. Lovely Complex at times gives off a Kare Kano crazyness vibe (which is good), and I like the characters, but I think it spends an episode too long on a particular plot point in the middle (or what I assume is the middle) of the series. |

Hmm, lets see, already mentioned and agreeable:
- Hana Yori Dango - Bokura ga Ita - Victorian Romance Emma Not mentioned (I believe): - Fushigi Yuugi I wouldn't count Nodame Cantabile as a true romance one since it mostly focuses on the music aspect (something I do like. I was GLAD that they didn't cut the performances so short, then this show wouldn't truly be for music-lovers). Spoiler for feelings:
And even though it's not an anime, if you're into romance, consider Densha Otoko.

I've really got to argue against Bokura ga Ita as a good romance. I guess it's good if you like shows that revolve around clingy, insecure, whiney, crybaby girls who badger and berate their boyfriends over past relationships, because that's what a good 2/3rds of the show is (well, one girl and her boyfriend). I mean, do people do this in real life and not drive their significant other to the point of insanity?
To the person surprised at the lack of recommendations for Lamune, I would say it's because pretty much nothing happens in the show until the last 2 episodes. It's the same with To Heart. My personal recommendations would be: Maison Ikkoku Kare Kano REC I guess you can include the Seikai series in here, but I generally classify it as outstanding space opera. I'd consider recommending Shingetsutan Tsukihime, but the game was way better.

Bokura ga ita: They need to make another season!!!!!!!
Aishiterzu Baby: Every time I see yuzu cry, I want to cry lol, it rips at ya Full Moon Wo Sagashite: Definately a good one, one of the better endings I've seen in a show. Final Approach: Only at at the end was it good, that alone made up for the rest of the show Peach Girl: It had some really good moments, the main issue I had with it was the way the lips were drawn, I can't get over it. Kanon: Really Solid, but like some have said, It has more of a Drama feel than Romance. Honey & Clover Lovely Complex This Ugly Beautiful World Ugh, thats all I can think of right now, and Im getting tired of typing lol. Oh I can I forget Fushigi Yuugi? Truly a classic |
