Chapter 78
That was a good chapter. The strategy that both sides employ is what makes this manga pretty cool. Also the good story telling. Weird but I think Annie will make an appearance in this fight. The only reason I feel this way is because Eren learned the hardening ability. To what extent I don't know but we know he can copy Annie's fist ability. If I were Erwin(the Scout Regiment Commander). I would take a risk and break Annie out her prison and negotiate or talk with her about switching. Yes its very risky but the final fight requires every available resource and all paths must be calculated and assessed. Right now Levi, Annie, Eren, and the new technology are the new trump cards the humans have. I feel trying to turn Annie over would be a good option. |

There is however another human titan that could join the battle: Ymir. She could show up and unexpectedly help the scout legion, but honestly even in that case I don't think that she would be enough to change the tides of this disastrous situation, at best she could become a diversion to make her old friends gain a bit of time. You mean as "fucked" as Reiner was "fucked" a few pages ago?

Fucked, like Eren was hit against the wall of one kick by the colossal titan , and yes almost kill reiner , but what about the colossal ? How its supposed to be killed , not to mention the ape, they have to fight with him, and for the other side it's Erwin and Levi almost alone, but they are good, different points of view I guess.

Chapter 79
Has for chapter I liked it. Author has a way of showing the human side of things so clearly. Neither character is strong on there own. The most important part is everyone is human. Armin losing bit of of his composure and Jean stepping but admitting his faults was cool. Has for the Beast titan he never lets a situation go to waste. Are Ackerman clan really special? That was good chapter. You know I wonder since Levi is an Ackerman what kind of affect will the titan process have on someone like him? The reason I say that is Ackerman can resist the Kings power and if they can do that I wonder what kind of abilities will they receive that normal people don't. For instance I have always wondered why the leader of the titan is an ape form and not like the other titans in his group human like with no skin or why he can speak English but none of the other titans can? I wonder if that character is an Ackerman decedent or was given a special titan? The Walls Unscathed? Finally I wanted to add one more thing. Has of right now there are still titans inside the walls. I don't know how things will go but I am curious why the ape titan or any of the other human titans have not bothered to ever break the walls down. Every time they have attacked the human race they have always kicked down the door and not any other part of the city walls. I am sure the colossal titan could easily do that. I wonder what would happen if the titans in the wall were ever released? Would they prove to be protectors of the human race or there doom? I wonder if that will be the commanders battle calculation and would it be last desperate attempt? In battles like these all equations must be assessed. If the titans in the wall were to ever be released I think they would be more than enough for the Colossal titan and even turn the tide of the battle. I see no other way unless Levi's supposed titan is a powerful titan ability like the Colossal titan. |

This writer could learn something from the writer of gantz despair after despair just gets boring and uninteresting if you don't put small glimmers of hope in. You have to make it seem like the good guys are winning after overcoming a huge obstacle just to get crushed by a bigger obstacle not have the good guys keep getting crushed with making no progress.
The good guys either get completely crushed by the end of this which is boring. Have to retreat which is boring. Or a deus ex machina like someone gets titan powers or the wall titans save everyone happens. Also Erwin and Levi don't know that ape titan has another human titan that can warn him with him. I swear this series is getting written into a corner.

Though what's actually bugging me right now is how they went on this mission without any kind of plan for the colossal titan. Considering how he can destroy any progress they might make he's actually the bigger threat; it wasn't even worth their time coming all the way out here until they knew how to deal with him. Instead of trying to push Armin to come up with a plan out of nowhere they should have had him working on it before they even left, just as they did for dealing with the armor. its just like, how could they do something so stupid? This is why i have no real issue with the ape titan since HE was something they could have never prepared for and he's atleast beating the corps by outmaneuvering them... only issue i have with him is that his strength just feels a bit to absurd with that rock throwing. Though i do wonder what will become of Levi. Feels obvious that he's not gonna be able to beat the ape titan, but he doesn't really have a good way to escape if he fails.

I was hoping for someone type, any glimmer of hope in this chapter after waiting so long but NOOOOPE all i see is pretty much everyone is fucked and not a thing of lube in sight. It seems that despair and losing consistently is the new MO of this story. I thought it was cool when they finally came up with some new weapons the Thunder Spears but nope they were rendered useless in a few chapters now that Reiner is confirmed not dead and back in his armored titan form. Eren got booted like a football through a goal post and is now in lalala land. Hange squad and Hange herself are probably toast and Ewin is leading a suicide attack to distract the Ape Titan while Levi attempts to take him down (which i have no hope he will do) At this point i see no way out for anyone and even Armin has no plan. Its going to be slaughter.
I hate to say it but im starting to lose interest in the story maybe its the pacing or the fact that literally the author leaves no room for hope (which i feel is essential for a story) but i find myself more more not excited about chapters coming out like i use to.

Well more and more I think this whole situation will be resolved by Eren's awakening to the coordinate's power.
Isayama is pushing things into such a fucked up situation because he knows he can pull out an ace that will turn the table in favor of Eren and his side. It happened before after all, back when Eren fought against the second attack of Reiner and Berthold, when people kept dying left and right, and Eren himself got eaten by a titan. That really seemed an absolutely desperate situation but then everything was resolved by a (at the time completely unexpected) power. Eren is also conveniently knocked down at the moment, which is probably the cue for yet another introspective sequence inside Eren's mind and memories, which, in turn, is usually the prelude of Eren's awakening to some new power or renewed determination to use it. That is what's most likely going to happen in my opinion, but that being said, I would be actually pleasantly surprised if after this whole chapter that we witness expecting some kind of miracle again ended up with a complete defeat, and then a time skip focusing on the survivors of this aftermath. Then again... it would mean that for the hundred time we got so close to finally know what the hell is going on, only to see it snatched away.

I said it months ago and I can only repeat myself: Why doesn't the author finally kill Reiner off? It's getting boring.
Every chapter it's getting worse and worse for the protagonists; this isn't really interessting anymore. BTW, wasn't the plan rather stupid? All of those Titans lining up are shifters and therefore intelligent. (If they weren't, they wouldn't line up in the first place). How can Erwin assume, that they behave and keep standing there, when they see, that Levi kills one after the other (even with the smoke as distraction, they should be able to see each other). And even in the case that Levi makes it to the beast Titan, there is no reason to assume he can defeat him. |

Expectations
You guys are looking at the wrong manga if you want it to pull some kind of Fairy tale, naruto or anything similar to that. This manga from the set go has always about the human being struggling for things. This is nothing out of the norm. The Realities The scout regiment has always faced huge casualties every time they went outside the wall. Second the foe they are facing is far superior to them when it comes to weapons, strength, and home field advantage. The fact that they were able to knock out the armored titan for awhile was impressive. The humans have come along way since the beginning of this manga. Nothing is perfect and the humans aren't perfect. Thats what this manga has been telling its readers for a long time. In my opinion Erwin has done more for the Scout Regiment and the human race in his life time then almost any character besides Eren. This was no shock to me that they are being slaughtered. The survival rate has never been good with the scout regiment. The scout regiment will always suffer huge losses. They do not walk on roads that have been made already they make new ones all the time and its always into the unknown. There will always be a high cost to that and that is the nature of the unknown. I am curious if or how they will pull a victory if not a small one out of this. I have my predictions but what interests me is what will happen? |

![]() The other posters are correct it's gotten to the point that it's literally expected that the bad guys get a deus ex machinca pulling them out every single freaking time no matter what the good guys do. I mean how many times do we need to see Eren get rescued or even incapacitated...I mean why even bother with him? ![]() Quote:
Again nobody seems to be answering my question but the fact remains will there be anything left to even call it a victory? Or are they going to go back to square one again with the way the story keeps dragging on? Spoiler:
It's just as bad as Reiner easily surviving the thunder spears. Now they got to do another plan and we all know how that's going to end... ![]() |
