Actually pretty good. Out of Cure girls do stuff we got this season this seems to be done most competently. Certainly not perfect, but cannot see myself dropping it

(I also like nicely toned girls so it's win on that side too.)

The second PV includes a bunch of janky-looking shots that made me wary about the show's production values, but I thought the first episode was quite solid and well-made. I was particularly impressed with the first-person climbing shots, which weren't done in CG despite the moving background. It looks like this won't be another Tamayomi, so I'll keep watching.

I didn't like how the captain let jun decide who enters the club or not, I understand not liking somebody joining and not be serious but if someone wants to join I think the club can't refuse. I believe their can afford to do that because they only need 3 members to compete but still I don't like it.

Well I guess it just this chapter and everything else is climbing and fluff.

Color me surprised. I was expecting a fanservice-palooza that I'd switch off in five minutes, but they actually took the concept seriously.

The gatekeeping was really annoying. No one's paying you to climb and it doesn't really accomplish anything. What else could it be but a game?

Well kind of nice that they took it as a pretty straight forward sports anime. Though Jun was fairly annoying. The classic type that used to have fun but now is super serious and hypocritical about anyone enjoying her sport/hobby and treating it like the game it is.

Thank god the MC doesn’t let that kind of nonsense really bother her. Wasn’t a bad episode, but also felt like the lead is literally the only good and interesting character. Will see if another episode picks it up a bit more.

That was most definitely not the way Rocket Girls set up the astronaut premise. I thought their approach was really clever. And that has nothing to do with this show, I know, but it's what came to mind.

That's a fairly common way of getting rid of an addiction, though.

1. She'd already beaten her game addiction. She was able to stop gaming and study for months.
2. What's she going to do when her club activity takes over her life and her grades tank again?

1)And she doesn't need study to such degree anymore. Also only people who doesn't need hobbies are ones who are addicted to their job.

2)Are you saying she is not allowed have any fun, because she could get addicted to it? Well, that might happen... to literaly anyone.

She should have fun in moderation. She was looking for something to be as passionate about as she was with games, and that's something else.

It's better to be passionate about something healthy then avoiding any kind of commitment. If she cannot be satisfied with herself she would be more likely do something self-harming in future... like actual drugs.

Member of sports club often have to have acceptable grades otherwise they are bared from competitions and stuff. That's why it's better then doing something completely alone with no supervision or responsibility.

The protagonist is apparently this gamer who instead of trying to do anything game-related, decides to, "Oh, I'm a genius and totally am going to do this sport even though every single student in this club are treating me like shit". Oh, but she's a genius, so she does just fine! I'd say Jun, but the fact the other students are letting her, a first year, act like this and chase away any person that isn't being controlled by God (aka, the author) make them look EQUALLY bad. In other words, it didn't feel like the characters were doing anything, but that everything was moving to satisfy the story instead. The story making the characters, not the characters making the story. I guess this is what happens when Cygames tries to make cute girls do cute stuff? ... OMG! I have received a calling from God! I will now be an astronaut. I am a genius, so it will be just fine. And I will be accepted into NASA by tomorrow. ...
