They aren't going to be selling a million copies, but if they only need to sell 40k to break even, and they sell 135k, isn't that immensely profitable for something they don't consider their primary market? Or if they go much lower key, and only need to sell 10k to break even, and sell 20k... that's still profitable.

If it were, companies like NISA and Atlus and the such wouldn't have lasted, yet they have.

And I'm not saying it'll come back en force, but to say it isn't/can't be profitable is beyond wrong.
its like porting doom 3 to japan, we love this game here, but we don't know if they will like of this game there, only if you manage do adaptate this game to their tastes

Mind you, the situation is changing. On handhelds, niche Japanese games haven't done too well at retail, and English dubs have made them expensive to produce. Profitability has become a real problem.

For that reason, Atlus USA only focuses on their parent company's RPGs (which currently include the Sting games), while XSEED has announced a digital-only strategy for most releases.

Could be. And knowing how long it takes Square-Enix to make FF games, it'll release as soon as 2016! ...Maybe.

Spoiler for Look inside:

Yeah, have seen enough FF games to know that guns have been in there before.

I'd expect them to announce and release XIII-3 before Versus gets out .

I need to invest in a PS Vita solely for Assassin's Creed: Liberation. And can't wait for Amazon to post the "Join or Die" edition of AC3 so that I can gleefully give them my credit card number for yet another purchase.

Mmmm......................... There were not any surprises in the 3DS conference, but it was interesting to see the videos of the games and how some of the systems were.
No Iwata this E3... (Well, he is doing the Directs, so I guess it is okay). He did do a live narration of Nintendo's E3 on Twitter though.

These past years at E3 have sucked horribly. It really hasn't been the same since they downsized the event some years back.

They care more about pleasing stockholders at E3 press conferences now.

Ow, the punservice! Kill me now before FFXIII-3 hits shelves, Yuna what I'm sayin'?

On an on-topic note, just watched the 3DS conference. Nothing too exciting, but nothing bad either. A solid fun time, and quite a nice analogy of Nintendo overall.

The 3DS conference was utterly mediocre. There was nothing here that showed why they needed a separate show. No new announcements and 20 min demos that could have been shown elsewhere, and wasted time on pointless gimmicks like threeidiots or whatever. Where is Fire Emblem, or Animal Crossing? Is Nintendoland and the completely rehashed NSMB2 the only new things this company has?

At least Paper Mario was nice.

This is last E3 I waste my time with pressers and will just read a summary instead.

I've been hearing a lot people saying that this E3 is probably the best advertizement for the ever PC. I think I will just have to agree.

About that...

I don't think these major companies take E3 seriously anymore since it was downscaled. There clearly is more they could have announced but didn't.

Apparently, Sony's stocks have gone up after E3...

Quote:
In light of this week’s E3 press conference, Sony’s stock has gone up - in the same general time frame that Nintendo’s has gone down. Now, a disclaimer(s): stocks are always volatile during E3 week, and don’t necessarily pan out for the rest of the fiscal year (or even the quarter) - and additionally, Sony’s stock actually dropped before its conference.

Even in light of these disclaimers, this is still important news. Spurred on by the endorsement of J.K. Rowling (regarding the PS3 console-exclusive implementation of Pottermore and the Book of Spells) - and therefore the media state of Harry Potter in general - Sony’s stock has risen.

What does this mean for the future of Sony, and beyond that - console gaming in general?

The only games that interests me at E3 this year were Persona 4 Arena and Resident Evil 6. As for Devil May Cry...I'm still not convinced.
