[PC, Steam] One Way Heroics
This game is a roguelike with a similar battle system to the Mystery Dungeon games, but with a twist. Instead of traversing floors, you have to traverse a procedurally generated strip of land between two mountain ranges, while being chased by a huge wave of darkness. This means you have to balance item gathering and battles with outrunning the left side of the screen, creating a constant sense of urgency.
In order to stop the darkness from consuming whatever is left of the world, you have to find the Demon Lord and kill it. This can be extremely difficult on a first run, but luckily, dying allows you to collect Hero Points and send stuff to a Dimensional Vault. Hero points can be spent on more passives, classes, and vault space while the Dimensional Vault can carry items over to the next playthrough, thus increasing your chances of success. Despite the simple premise, you can get several different endings depending on the allies you recruit and if you can max their affection before completing the run. You can also find alternate ways to successfully complete the run and possibly discover some secrets about the world's history. There's also the Plus DLC, which makes the game's roguelike features even harder while adding more characters, enemies, classes, and other features. Of course, data from the original game can be transferred to the Plus version. Finally, certain modifiers can change the stats and personality of NPCs, including a few that make them horny. |
