I can't compare with the older games, but if you can play it and have never done so, it definitely does not hurt to play it. It's just that good.

Nintendo America confirmed that similarly to FE:W, Xenoblade 2 will feature free japanese voice pack day one. Good news, no need to import it contrary to X. And frankly, from the snippets I've heard, the dub is definitely dubious.

Several preview videos, from Gamespot, GameXplain, IGN, Polygon (no commentary), Jeroen Keers (no commentary, lots of gameplay footage, including boss fights).

Game is really looking very good as far as my expectations go. Once again, thank goodness the dual audio feature has been included. While Rex english VA is kind of lame during combat, Homura/Pyra's VA is quite terrible for the cutscenes. Not only she sounds quite... "old" but she barely has any emotion which strikes extremely odd in some scenes, particularly the funny ones (notably Hana/Poppi introduction and the hook scene. She just doesn't match Homura/Pyra's expressions and movements at all. Definitely a lackluster dub direction and selection instead of the VA's fault). It is definitely not on par with X1 dub, which was serviceable enough to be played. But X2? Definitely not in my books.

And speaking of awkward stuff, I really hope the "system voice" in battle can be disabled. The "narrator" yelling attacks/effects and commenting combos result is a huge pack of cringe, and it is present in both english and japanese versions.

Meanwhile, I will definitely buy the OST. Main Battle 1, 2 and boss fight themes are awesome, and that's not even mentioning the ambiant themes either.

Well yeah. At least, I got a direct confirmation that you can entirely disable the announcer without affecting the combat dialogues.

This is so different from X where you couldn't even tweak the basic sound options.

English or should I say British dub for that character trailer is out. Though it just occurred to me. Is Pyra's VA doing an American accent on her? And considering this game has various locales, there seems to be an effort to give each region a distinct accent. Like supposedly Rex's like Northern UK and Nia's like Welsh.

The place I bought the JP version from better ship it on time this time... It's times like this I almost wish I could stand reading the English names and just buy the localized version.

Unless you are short on memory storage, you can buy the JP ver on the eshop. If you really want the goods, you can also buy the CE without the game card on the nintendo shop, provided you use a proxy. That's what I'm going to do, although I will buy both the JP and localized version for the sake of it.

Also, I'd advise people to stay away from hashags and whatnot: some people got their copy already, so it is very likely we will get spoilers within 2 days or something from the western side.

I'm complaining because it's a real thing that damages JRPG sales in the US when people see trailers of it in Japanese VAing.

The game is officially released in Japan and some other regions as well.
Meanwhile, the review embargo is over, and as expected, some people complain a lot about the anime style and even blame it for the "tropes" even though 1 and X had a lot of them too.

Going to play a bit on my JP digital copy while my ENG one will arrive tomorrow.

Meh, people complain about weird stuff. Especially the ones on fanservice. Must have missed the bunny suits, fundoshi (censored), and every other outfit you could have girls including a minor wear in the previous game. (I loved that part though)

So where do you get the day one voice pack for the JP audio? I don’t see it on the eshop and it wasn’t with the update that automatically downloaded.
