Very sure, but you can check it out for yourself:

She sounds a little unsteady at the beginning, but gains power and strength as she goes on.

As far as the concert as a whole...it was stunning. Three hours long, and if it had gone on for another three, I wouldn't have minded. There were a couple of small technical problems about half an hour into it (mike feedback), but nothing serious.

Yoko Kanno was on stage most of the time, playing piano, but finally...near the end...she sang.

And either she IS Gabriela Robin, or else she she does a pitch-perfect impersonation of her.

And the end, she pulled out an accordian and played "Anato no Oto," with Megumi singing, and the audience filling in the "Dokun Dokun Dokun" parts...except, since the concept of this concert was that Yoko Kanno was a baby chicken, everyone had to say "Piyo, Piyo, Piyo" instead.

As far as the audience went, I was disappointed to see only one cosplay...some guy dressed as Cowboy Andy.

Omg, I got goosebumps just listening how much Megumi has improved She sounds better now. "Voices" was amazing and May'N sounds as powerful as ever with that voice but I really want to hear Diamond Crevasse >_<

Either way, this concert was amazing in general and they better release a DVD because I would definitely buy a copy.

Aquarion... gah, I really can't stand that anime. It was like Macross 7 literally combined with one of those Ranger shows.

Including a giant one-man army robot, no less!!

I agree, the anime is a mess in many ways but that doesn't change it's OST's in a bit

I think that's the best summary of Sky Crawlers I've seen so far.

Also, Yot-chan, I am green towards you. But thanks for the link!

Oh God. We need this concert on CD and DVD. NAO!
Steve Conte is sooooo weird...

Strangely enough, I didn't cringe listening to Mamegu's rendition of "Voices". Nowhere near as good as the original, tho... but nice, nonetheless.

Unsurprisingly enough, I went:

Why? Cuz she was using her Ranka voice.

But her Ranka voice is her own voice, forgottendiary-sama.
She doesn't have much of a range, as of yet. And I did think she sounded a little more... I dunno... bolder, I guess, singing this song. Need I remind anyone that this was my favorite ever Macross song, before the advent of the awesomeness that is Sheryl Nome?
So, for me to not really throw up listening to Mamegu's attempt, it is quite something...

Need a clear version of the whole concert, ASAP.

Ah, screw you guys..."Nattering Nabobs of Negativity" indeed.

The atmosphere in the place was electric when she sang Voices.

Remind me not to share links with people who can't appreciate them...

Well Yot-chan thank you for providing to link to us less fortunate.

I actually think Megu is getting a little better, at using her Ranka voice. She just needs to work more on putting in emotion into her voice when she sings, which was the whole reason why I couldn't listen to the Diamond Crevasse 50/50 version. Ranka sounded too choppy and unsure of herself.

I, for one, did. Don't even know why I was embroiled in the whole "Nattering Nabobs of Negativity" calling out, as I clearly stated that it was a nice rendition of one of my favorite songs, even if not a great one, IMHO - not to mention the fact that I gushed a lot about everything else.

Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time I was misinterpreted over something oh so trivial...

Sorry. For reasons mentioned elsewhere, the Ranka hate really presses all the wrong buttons for me, and Megumi bashing (and "I didn't throw up when she sang it" is still pretty negative) presses them even harder.

Megumi's a fine singer, a fine actress, and seems like super-sweet person...so I don't really understand all the damning with faint praise that's going on.

It's supposed to be, since I was making a gross exaggeration in hopes of making a point about one of my favorite songs. It could be anyone singing it, not only Mamegu. You'll notice I did vote for some of her songs from the series if you look carefully, so do not group me with any kind of simple-minded bashers, thank you.

Although that photo of hers sans make-up is damn unflattering.
