Ikebukuro West Gate Park [Fall 2020] Anticipation


Urban Mystery novel 'Ikebukuro West Gate Park' is getting a TV anime. Coming 2020.

Plot Summary

The mystery novel series is set in Tokyo's Ikebukuro ward, in the eponymous Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Kōen (known by locals as "Ikebukuro West Gate Park," the place's English name). The story centers on Makoto Majima, the son of a local fruit vendor, and known as the "Troubleshooter of Ikebukuro." He helps everyone from his friends to local street toughs in solving various incidents

Was already a live-action drama (in 2000) and a couple of manga adaptations. At the time it was known for being very gritty and edgy by Japanese standards - not sure how it will play now.

Holy shit, I remember watching the dorama back during middle school. I know it was popular back then, but wow this kinda came out nowhere, unless it's for 20th anniversary?

The original novel it's based off came out in 1998, while the J-drama adaptation came out 2 years later, I assume the anime celebrate the 20th anniversary of the J-drama.
