As a big magical girl fan, and as someone who enjoyed the various Fate/ anime shows, I really enjoyed that.
A good, strong opening episode with a nice blend of lighthearted comedy, bright visuals, and explosive action (mainly Rin vs. Luvia). So the high-class blonde is named Luvia... I'm not familiar with her, but I love her character design. Her personality makes me think she's maybe a relative of Fate/Zero's Kayneth? Plus, there's the fact that she commands "Lancer" just like Kayneth did. Anyway, I look forward to Episode 2!

She's from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. Since they'll never explain it in the series (at least, they didn't in the manga), and it makes 100% no difference to the plot whether you know her background or not: she's Rin's distant cousin. Very distant. Closest ancestors (twin sisters) are from 130 years before the story (the normal Fate story, at least, as they were Masters in the Third War - one went back to Europe, the other stayed in Japan).

You'll be waiting a long time for that, seeing as how it happened in 2wei.
In order for you get your loli french kiss, these things will need to happen: (1) Silver Link completes S1 of Prisma Illya and keeps it good quality throughout. (2) Lots of JP otakus buy lots of BDs. (3) The world does not end. If these things happen, its likely they will greenlight the 2wei anime. Then you'll just have to wait for it to air. Which might be anywhere from 1-2 years from now. In short: don't hold your breath. Because that's not how animu babby is made. |

I was really hyped for the series but I've been brought down to Earth a bit. I don't like the camera angles used when Ruby is talking. It's like the whole thing is placed on her(?) when she's(?) talking. It's like all you get is FACE (metaphorically speaking since the subject is a wand). Could be easy to re-use whenever Ruby talks throughout the whole series .____.

Well I thought that was a good start. Kind of sucks for Ilya that she gets dragged into trouble because her magical stick is a scammer . Of course lay plenty of blame on Rin and Luvia for not being able to put their frustrations aside and get their job done. I mean they were just reaching insane levels of danger with that squabble.
Some of the designs still feel a bit weird to look at like Shirou, but hey it could be worse. I think the premise of the show is solid and it should be fun to watch. Quote:

Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA*ILLYA. Illya's gone magical-girl
If there was ever any magical-girl show for me to pick-up this year, then that would be Illya's Fate/kaleid Liner.
It will be something of a complicated from me to say that Fate/kaleid Liner actually looks to me more of anti-magical girl, yet magical-girl of sorts. Ruby kaleid is the most cynical, rude, manipulative, sly, and verbally abusive, mascot and side-kick, magical companion in the annals of anime, but I guess that's how it is so much likeable by fans. Poor Illya. Not only did she was put through much embarrassment (and given that such embarrasement would be a blatant crime in real-life) by Ruby, but she will have to fight against formidable foes. Telling the truth kaleid Liner begs to say such obviousness: TYPE-MOON meets Card Captor Sakura. - Magical-girls wielding magical sticks to battle and capture stray, TYPE-MOON, magical cards. Nevertheless, it was an epic cutely first episode particularly those two: Rin and Luvia duking it out more like anti-magical girls, and would have been shattering little girls' dreams for magical-girls had not both Ruby and Sapphire said no more to the former magical-Hags' bickering and tantrum. |
