Yes.. it is very good proof of just how good an anime this is. Not only do we hate the antagonist but we can feel for the protagonist and the heroines as well. A superb series indeed.

I agree...it's a shame phantom isn't getting more attention :\. I really like this series a lot...even to the point where i can't decide to end it with one girl dying over the other..i can only wish for a big harem ending because i can't bare to think of any of the girls dying :\

it's good...the girls are so different, yet they're all very likable.

Just watched the episode which ended earlier. I like how Elen and Cal did a quick move and point their weapons at each other's head. Then Reiji arrives and all 3 come to a standoff. Luckily Lizzie was there to interrupt before someone's brains get blown out. Claudia was mentioned again, this time by Reiji who used her name to call Shiga and threaten him. Later, Reiji explains his and Elen's circumstances to Cal but she just won't end her revenge. Looks like a simple explanation just won't do.

He's the antagonist in the anime/manga Basilisk. He is similar to Sycthe, manipulates people and uses them to his advantage but he is way more evil, since he rapes the female characters as well.

I'm surprised it wasn't being blogged on RC. Its way better than Princess Lover. And I too wish for a happy harem ending but we know it won't be that way.

I know...i don't understand hwy though. Maybe people have moved on from these kinda things to more of those moe-plot driven kind of animes...

I still haven't found something as heart-wrenching as ga-rei zero though. That was epic and made me cry a friggin ocean...

You're confident in the director? Let's hope that's the case, i would hate for this to turn into one of those really sad endings, as much as i love sad endings, i also really love good happy endings. I can't make up my mind on which one's better haha.

(I think that over all the years, I replayed at least 10 main endings (except for the Mio path), and finished none of them with dry eyes)

Anyway getting back on track, for those of you who have seen episode 22 already, withOUT spoiling me, are we looking at a good well-directed episode?

It depends on what you're looking for. _I_ would say yes, but...

Spoiler for episode 22:

...this episode centered on Cal, expanding on her situation, her rage, and how much she is broken inside. As one who knows the game intimately, and particularly the paths that are "bad" for Cal, I can say that I'm very happy about the way she's depicted. It's very consistent with the game, and eerie... almost haunting. I'd give the direction major kudos, because if you do NOT know the game, watching the episode very closely will already give you clues what is REALLY making Cal tick. Hint: It's not exactly what she's TELLING others.

However, if you're looking for lots of action, then you'll be disappointed about 22, since we had nearly none of that ... then again, this is going to change soon. The preview proves it.

p.s. - i was listening to the OST cd of Phantom Requiem...it's got some good tracks. Also the CD "inspired by Ein" is pretty good too, got a few solid versions of her theme song things. Though the "insired by Zwei" CD had some bad singing...but the version of his theme song was pretty damn badass if you asked me, just that the singing sucked. his voice didn't fit :\
