Wouldn't even say romance...but just the overall sexual tension feels better for me at least. Guess I'm just the kinda of person where if I saw two girls getting it on, I'm trying to jump in there compared to just watching from the sideline.

I feel like that's going to be a subplot in the series, how Asuka and Homura are going to be friends when the factions they work for are old enemies. Last edited by CrowKenobi; 2013-01-14 at 12:53. Reason: Please use the "edit" button to add content to your post instead of double posting. |

Strong friendship is a perfectly acceptable substitute as long as I have my goggles on. I feel this interpretation makes the series more fun to watch. Though people are welcome to disagree. But to me, having Asuka as the protagonist instead of some guy created wholecloth for the anime feels much better. She can interact with the rest of her classmates not as love rivals, but as a peer. (And maybe also lovers. I'm willing to be flexible.)

More to the point, you guys are ignoring entirely the legitimacy of girls having romances with each other. To make it perfectly clear, Senran Kagura is a series with that kind of leaning. While Katsuragi's boob grabbing antics clearly don't mean to be anything romantic, the show has already made blatant the presence of serious romantic possibilities through Yagyuu's special feelings for Hibari (as just the most obvious example). I would not even say that this show does not try to appeal to people like you guys' who are stuck on 'male-centric sexuality', since it has those ridiculous sushi eating scenes, after all; but basically if you're not the type of person who can appreciate female sexuality without the presence of a male self-insert, then this show is not for you. |

That is to say, one of the things which Katsuragi's boob-grabbing scenes does is confirm that Katsuragi is an either lesbian or bisexual character. Though some viewers like yourself or Tenchi Ryu might find that boring, there are also audiences who might prefer it that way ("feel the romantic tension") or find it exciting. |

In all honesty, if you slapped a guy in there none of this "possible lesbian/bisexual" talk would be happening. Last edited by takai; 2013-01-14 at 03:28. |

As much as there technically have a lot of fanservice in it, it all just feel really natural and matter-of-fact to me. The show knows that itself is silly, and those little quirks make this series somewhat charming. I really don't see it as an ecchi series, more like SoL with action and light comedy.
