Probably Sora Mimi Cake, the OP from Azumanga Daioh.

No matter how terrible my day has been, the moment I hear those opening arpeggios, I can't help but get a goofy grin on my face.

Sore ga Ai Deshou - Shimokawa Mikuni. The OP to FMP: Fumoffu? This is so sweet. I don't know why, but it pleases my ears. Maybe it's the perpetual motion of the parts. Or that smooth singing voice. Or the gentle harmonies...

If listed the anime songs that strike me as "excellent" like the vastly different

Cowboy Bebop Movie - "Gotta Knock a Little Harder" (heavy metal gospel),
Ah My Goddess the Movie - "Coro di Dea" (stunning angelic chorus),
Shamanic Princess - "Every Time We Can Love You" (very sexy instrumental),
Kodomo no Omocha - "Mina de Wahaahaa" (screamingly cool hillbilly rock), or
Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar - "Memory of Mother" (beautiful and complex piano)

the list would be very long... I have a mix of 180 of them on the CD of my car's MP3 player of the same quality as above songs and I still have plenty left over.

Funny thing is, I do have a favorite:

Ranma 1/2 OVA - Ranma to Akane no Barado OVA version (Ranma and Akane's Ballad, the ending song)

It helps that the first season of Ranma is a masterpiece and was my favorite anime for many years (until I saw Kodomo no Omocha and then the YKK manga and animes). The song is beautiful, a duet sung by talented seiyuu for Ranma and Akane, and ends with a big crescendo with a full choir... gorgeous. The lyrics also sum up the clumsy but sweet emotions of love they feel for each other... reminding me of the emotions evoked by that wonderful anime. I often find myself singing this song for no reason.

I think the song played at the end of episode 26 in Wolf's Rain is pretty amazing, good tones and i like the song

I thing it's called "tell me what the rain knows", if I'm not mistaken.

The opening theme of Witch Hunter Robin.
I also like Hellsing : Bodhisattva Cathedral , and Hellsing Logos naki World (opening theme) equally as much.

I love the fact that the same didn't show up too many times in this thread. There is a wonderful variety of favorites.

True 'dat. I was also surprised that there would be more discussion in this thread than a simple listing of favorites... I've seldom seen a good explanation as to why a song is a favorite.

You know I really can't explain why I like a song. I just do. But hey, if you can find the right wording to explain why it is your favorite, it would be a plus if you did .
