The old man that nearly killed Tohru in another world clearly has some magic power of some sort. Which is probably why Tohru thinks that the ninja she saw on TV has real skill to cut steel doors. @__@

Anyway, on today's episode.. would have to agree with the others.. Kanna is cute. I like how her tail ends with a ball of hair like a stuffed toy.

What springs to mind is an other-world situation where Kobayashi-san gets accused of being a Demon Queen or a witch by some guys in armour and she has to be saved from the knights by a dragon.

That "old man," who you may not have noticed was about 100ft tall and surrounded by guys in priest-like clothing, was almost certainly a god. Slight difference between him and humans.

I was thinking along similar lines (that Kanna's recharging could end up running up a major electricity bill). That show doesn't seem to be going that route though.

This episode was an improvement on the first one.

Maybe Tohru can install solar panels on Kobayashi-san's roof. Or they could run a wind generator. Tohru would have to be careful not to set it afire though. KyoAni could add a nice environmentally-friendly feature to the story!

Keep in mind, Kanna didn't trip the circuit breaker, so she can't have that high a draw.

What Random Wanderer said, and it takes years for solar panels and such to pay for themselves, if they ever do.

Also, I wonder how Kanna fed herself in her original world. Did she use the plentiful mana (either directly, or turning it into electricity with spells), or did she fly around in thunderstorms?

Hmm ... good question regarding Kanna.

She did make the content in episode 2 about the Mana Purity being very low in the world she is in now ... perhaps when the Mana Purity is high she somehow "auto-generates" the energy somehow?

Kanna seems likely to draw more current than your average refrigerator.

As for payback periods, here in Massachusetts an average household would break even in half-a-dozen years. My electricity bill is over $100/month, though I have a number of always-on devices like computer servers. For me, a solar installation would likely save about $1,800 per year. Panels can also add to the home's valuation by as much as $15,000.

Why? I mean, obviously, a transpacific flight plus a kameha beam represent a lot of energy. Not to mention turning into a dragon. But she can't have gotten that from Kobayashi's outlet in a Joule for Joule conversion. Not unless Kobayashi's electrical installation is massively over-engineered for a normal small apartment. If Kanna's draw was much more than a refrigerator's, it couldn't have taken it.

Maybe she's able to turn 1J of electricity into millions of J of magical energy. Somehow. If we still believe in the conservation of energy (along with dragons turning into human-like forms), that would mean she pulled the magical energy from somewhere, and electricity was just a part of that process.

Which means they're not really a solution to an sudden and urgent need for enough electricity to, say, move an aircraft carrier. You'd need a lot of capital first. And a place to put the panels. And the right climate.

Pretty fun episode, new characters introduced too. We got some kind of yuri (?) developments this episode it seems, I really don't mind since this series is so comfy.

That scene where everyone was drunk is the best part of the episode, absolutely hilarious. Lucoa is a really nice girl, she's stacked as hell. Poor butler tho, suffering all that bullying.

Episode 3:

Pretty entertaining episode.

I love the character chemistry between all the main characters so far. I'm not surprised that Kobayashi is happy that Tooru and Kanna came to live with her. The neighbor segment felt a bit awkward though, not sure I liked that part.

Fafnir and Lucoa's introduction into the show is also quite amusing. I like how they included some video game references like Dark Souls and Mario Kart into the episode too.

In this episode they show move commands that is common in fighting games and Mario Cart, and Dark Souls. Also Lucoa has heterochromic eyes that look scary. (That's probably the reason that they are kept closed most of the time).

So all those random people flying upward in the OP sequence are confirmed to appear in the anime. Can't go wrong with KyoAni's approach towards background characters!

Anyone else that this feeling we are a second away from a catastrophe? I am almost expecting a scene like in the movie lilo and stich, the one where lilo drew stich and said his evil level was too high >_<

Seems to me L'coa has this in her eye

If Tohru is a D amongst dragons, then Lucoa must be a DD amongst dragons. What's Lucoa's backstory though, Quelsomethingsomething, wasn't that a Maya god or something like that?

Shame they didn't focus on 'Lucoa' Central America mythological origins in her character design, but she seems a surprisingly quiet character for what her appearance suggests. I assume we will see more of her latter and I look forward to it.

Loved the Dark Souls and Mario Cart references, isn't this the same people from behind My Two Faced Sister last year with a similar fondness for game nods?

Also the yuri in this has a surprisingly tender tone at times. There elements of a real relationship forming under all the comady.

Also Kanna and pillow is adorable!

So we Dark Souls now . Fafnir looks interesting and his dragon form was pretty intimidating as well. Also when Tohru said "satsugai" (murder) it made me think of Detroit Metal City... and sure enough, we have a bona fide metalhead not even one minute later .
