Battleship (2012)

At first I was like , and then i was like and then I was

The maker of the original board game must be spinning in his grave. I suppose they'll make a movie out of Jenga next. Then they'll have a shot in the trailer where someone screams,"JENGGAA!!!" and the opponent's skyscrapers fall.

The extreme overhead shot, with both opponents matched up on corresponding sides of a "board", has to be one of the most hilariously stupid shots I have seen in a trailer in quite some time.

So, the story is about Brooklyn Decker's breasts, and the Seamen (Taylor Kitsch) who is trying to acquire said boobs. Somehow Erik Northmen is involved, and Liam Neeson is fighting to protect Decker's cleavage (there is supposedly a blood relation between the cleavage and Neeson, but I don't see it). For some reason Rhianna is also involved (competition against Decker's heaving mounds?).

And aliens also appear (I assume they are also after Brooklyn Deecker's breasts...).

Whatever the case, this film is costing Universal 200+ million dollars to make, and I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to see the movie even if it stars Brooklyn Deecker's breasts....

(If you haven't figured it out by now, I think Decker's cleavage is the main drawing point for the film...)

I thought this was something along the lines of Battle: LA or Independence Day or something or expecting a Command & Conquer Live Action... it's only at the end that I was WTF?

Rubik Cube could be great. I can imagine an intense conspiracy driven thriller, as a lone investigator/journalist uncovers a plot by a mega-corporation or government to systematically segregate the world based on "colour" (because, in the end, isn't that what the Rubik cube really is, nothing more than a game of segregation?).

Well, it's official, Hollywood has no creative ability whatsoever.

Cereal characters will be the next wave of adaptions.

I think I may get in on this and go pitch a concept of 'Count Chocula VS. Frankenberry' to Hollywood execs.

Anyway, as for 'Battleship', there's really not much I can add. I viciously took this movie apart on IMDb, but I'm afraid I can't use the excessive comments I used on there on here. The only thing I will say is, it doesn't take even a mild intellect to know this movie is going to be a disaster... a complete disaster. Just wait til' they show Rihanna spitting out lines of dialogue, it will only get worse from that point.

I'm wondering were they managed to get footage of a battleship in action....we don't have any of those on the fleet anymore. Three of that class are museums and the last one is in mothballs in California and hasn't moved in a long time....it is waiting for a real bit for it to also be a museum. (That one appears to be USS New Jersey in the film)

But as concepts go....sigh

Reminds me of the minesweeper fan trailer, the thing is that one was actually funny and not serious.

Looking forward to the Monopoly or Risk adaptation.

Those were shots from the 1980s or better. The ship looks a lot different than it did in the 1940s.
