Independence Day: Resurgence (Independence Day 2)

Any of you still remember this alien-invasion movie? Now we get two sequel movies already on the move. Who wants to see more UFOs blasting people's asses?

”The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back,” says Emmerich. ”And they know that the only way you can really travel in space is through wormholes. So for the aliens, it could take two or three weeks, but for us that’s 20 or 25 years.”

Emmerich goes to say that, while Bill Pullman is set to reprise his role as President Whitmore, leading man Will Smith has not signed on to return as Captain Steven Hiller. The film will, instead, follow the character's stepson, Dylan, in addition to a number of new, younger leads.

“It’s a changed world," Emmerich says of the world's post-invasion reality. "It’s like parallel history. [Humans] have harnessed all this alien technology. We don’t know how to duplicate it because it’s organically-grown technology, but we know how to take an antigravity device and put it in a human airplane.”

Scripts for both sequels are now being rewritten by James Vanderbilt, who worked with Emmerich on his latest, White House Down, slated to hit theaters June 28

Need to re-watch the movie again.
Kinda forget what the story was, except for the independence day and alien part.

I remember I was terrified of the Alien mindcontrol scene when I was a kid.

Probably Norton, anything else would actually work.

*sigh*

I was under the impression that Roland Emmerich had stated, quite adamantly, that 2012 was to be his last disaster/action movie...

Promises, promises.

Anyway, expect good CGI and don't put too much attention on the plot.

I assume that Jeff Goldblum is available (he’s not that busy as an actor) to reprise his role as David Levinson. If David returns in the sequel, we can have him make more deadly computer viruses to fight the aliens ^^. I mean, if the virus that he created with that 1995 Macbook can beat aliens with light-years of advanced technology in the first movie, he can totally own these aliens again now that he posses their technology. No kidding .

It'd be more interesting to infect them with some sort of pop-up window virus that screws up the mothership pilot's cockpit screens so badly he ends up crashing on the Moon. >_>

Technically, Emmerich's Foundation trilogy (if he ever starts work on it) would be yet another Disaster movie (arguably his largest one yet)...

How about this- Aliens invade, melt the polar ice caps to flood New York, and in the process awaken Godzilla?

There is nothing to say he is still the President (though he could be President for two non-consecutive terms ), just that the character will be present.

Nah, they kinda already did it in Godzilla: Final Wars, with more giant monsters and Matrix-obsessed aliens and mutants even .

In the end, it was not guns and bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures, Godzilla

Sorry couldn't resist.

Yea... watched it many times over the years -- normally around... oh... I don't know... Independence Day...

But sequels on this? C'mon...

I'll be more lenient -- IF -- it is some kind of sci-fi series, which models how world politics would respond after surviving a massive attack those aliens did on Earth.

...omg I feel old. It's been 17 years already?

*blink*

I remember seeing Goldbloom guest starring on...The League, and thinking, holy crap he got old, but if it's been 17 years, I guess that's to be expected.

Geeze. 17 years...
