Director: Kiyotaka Oshiyama
Character Design/Chief AD: Takashi Kojima
Production: Studio 3hz

First Kanta Kamei and his gang at Dimension W, and now Oshiyama x Kojima !
Studio 3 Hz seems going to be a decent production house.

edit :
for those who don't know Oshiyama, he's the only man behind Space Dandy #18.

Apparently, the story premise:

Quote:
How does the world look in your eyes? Papika and Cocona, the heroines of the story, hold the keys to open the door. When the two girls meet, their adventures in a different time and different overlapping dimension called "Pure Illusion" begin. Many things in Pure Illusion will stand in the girls' way on their search for the mysterious crystal called the "Shard of Mimi," an item that is said to grant any wish. However, when the girls find themselves in danger, the Shard of Mimi shines, and they are able to transform.

Some people says his episode is heavy on action, the close combat battle in the PV comes from that episode (3).

Also, forgot to post these videos

Episode 1:

Well that was kinda entertaining. I like the style of the show so far and the chemistry between the two main girls. A lot happened and feels like the pacing is a bit fast. However, I think the animation style was directed quite well, especially that ending.

Not sure why Kokona got kidnapped at the end but this was quite a start so far. Papika's personality is so energetic!

Pretty cute. It had a bit of an Alicia in Wonderland feel to it. Also, the dynamic between Kokona and Papika reminded me of Dirty Pair, only a kiddy version of it. lol

But yeah, it was pretty good overall. No idea what the plot is about yet, but I don't mind waiting to find out.

Also, the scene when Kokona awakened super powers was pretty freaking cool.

Oh god. This episode. THIS EPISODE! That was beautiful! The delivery was exciting all the way throughout without a hint of boredom, and every single scene was drawn absolutely stunningly. God damn I'm impressed, I'm 100% sold, next episode can't come soon enough.

This was really great. I don't even mind the vague plot. Nice presentation and it made me intrigued to find out more about the universe.

I pretty much agree with Stark700 and Kazu-kun. Except I differ with Stark700 on the pacing - The pacing seemed just right to me. Slow enough to feel nicely atmospheric during some moments, but fast enough that you never get bored.

I'm glad that the male characters hint at a plot going on in the background, but like Kazu-kun, I'm willing to wait some to find out exactly what it is. The show definitely has a good blend of magic with adventurism. Very creative and refreshingly different show. The two leads definitely have a fun and whimsical chemistry to them! This show also speaks a lot to the kid in me, and the robot character in particular is precisely the sort of thing that gets a kid's imagination going.

Ep 01

I ... am not quite sure what to think about all that. Hmm.

Well, overall I think I liked it - it did a good job at conveying how Cocona was sucked into ... whatever it was she was sucked into - they called it "pure illusion". Other than that ... let's see, what else comes to mind?

Well, one thing ... I am not quite sure (though kinda curious) about what Papika's story is. Perhaps a human who was raised with venturing to and fro from this pure illusion place ... thing ... whatever ... by Dr. Salt and his crew? Kind of like a pearl diver who was trained from childhood to master that task?

From the series summary above they are eventually going to be searching for something called the "Shard of Mimi"...perhaps sent on a mission to do so by Dr. Salt's group (who seem to be controlling the robot thingee). Interestingly, Papika can do "super powered" type things in the "real world" too, but just as curiously it seems not everyone notices her ... only Cocona and those deadpan twins - the latter also showed up in the art promos before the series aired, so they may have some role in the story as of yet as well.

From the OP sequence it seems there are bad guys in this story too - the KKK cloak wearing lookalikes, and perhaps those robot looking things who captured the pair at the end are the minions of the bad guys? Personal they are also after the Shard? (For nefarious purposes, of course.)

The OP and the ED were helpful for me, though, as if representing the two sides of the coin that this series will be showing us - for the first ep the frenetic and wide eyed feel of the OP seemed the main thrust, but the slightly off key and disturbing tones of the ED, presented through the visuals of periodically going into the area of "not a fun dream but a nightmare" were well done, but also will likely be heading our way soon - at least that is my guess.

Overall I liked it, and I will not say it violently hooked me in, but it did engage me in the series. Not going to commit just yet, but things look pretty positive on that front at the moment.
