More like Berserkers. They'll keep fighting till they're dead.

Indiewire: First Reviews For 'Pacific Rim' Rise From The Depths With Mostly Positive Notices Plus New Trailer

Normally I don't notice reviews until after the movie, but good to hear the press is mostly positive about them, even if its strong points are exactly the things the more reasonable people expected from it: it's just a straightforward and fun monster vs mecha movie. Do watch out for spoilers in the reviews though.

And apparently, there is an after-credits scene, so watch out for that.

Just Here for Godzilla trope in full effect. So far, it seems that Pacific Rim is pleasing in that regard.

I can't wait to see this movie come this weekend and have a nerdgasm the whole way through.

This is honestly the biggest reason I got pumped for this film. It's UNBELIEVABLE how often people screw up at making simple, wholesome, mindless action stomper movies. It's like, half the time they don't understand what the appeal of this kind of movie. So they weigh it down with pointless nonsense, and copy pasted fight scenes.

Del Toro is more than just an action schlock film maker like Michael Bay. Del Toro actually knows how to do intelligent, and emotionally poignant movies...which makes it all the more fascinating that a guy like that could embrace his inner child with so little reservations, and use his talents to make a good, simple movie that he would have enjoyed when he was young.

There are stupid mindless sci-fi action flicks released over the last few years, and I've ignored them by the dozens. THIS is the one that's caught my attention.

Yeah some of the negative criticism is about this movie not on par with Gone with the Wind or deep which makes little sense as this is a straight forward movie about giant monsters being fought with Giant robots.

I mean Transformers focused way too much on the humans compared to the robots.

Some reviewers honestly just don't get genre films. If it isn't something artsy, they can't differentiate between decent sci-fi extravaganza, and something like transformers.

I saw this movie last week and if you're a fan of the genre you'll be very very happy. Some reviewers can't even get past the fact that the Kaiju come from a portal under the sea.

First real opening scene and fight made me so happy.

Interesting select Pacific Rim Concept art.

Spoiler for Keith Thompson Mako Mori concept art:

Also.

Spoiler for Backround on the Kaiju Darwinian army:

Kaiju are VERY much manufactured war machines that have been overly selected to a combat orientation. Everything about these guys is designed to be a weapon.

It is very inappropriate that I wanted to shake hand with Kaiju creator?
