So I finally started up the entry for Baccano! on tvtropes.org. Check it out here. It's a Wiki, and it still needs a lot of work, so feel free to help me expand it.

Thanks to the recommendation of the local Italian of my IRC chatroom who knew my seiyu tastes and love for mafia, pulp fiction and occultism, I marathonned this show from wednesday.
It will be an understatement if I say that this show should get the award of the most overlooked and underrated anime of 2007. (it may have been very hard to be noticed or picked up when one is stuck between TTGL, L*S, HiguKai and the (over)hyped School Days) This show have a lot of nice things going for it: a seiyu dream team, a time period and setting that rarely get shown in the anime industry, a narration method that would have nothing to envy to Pulp Fiction and Memento and still manage to make sense in the end w/o leaving loose ends; it's ambitious w/o coming off as pretentious, there are no character I felt they should ditch. In a way, even with the very large character cast, it avoided the pitfall that School Rumble Nigakki and Nanoha StrikerS has fallen in. It's tragically funny how Baccano managed its large cast with success in just 13 episodes, while the two other mentionned shows failed to do the same feat in 24-26 eps (I like these shows, but I don't close my eyes on their most obvious flaws). Baccano is like those movies you don't notice when they are released, then make you feel ashamed to have not done so earlier. It's like a movie that is not an immediate box-office hit, but later grow a fanbase and gain a cult classic status over time. My lost faith in anime has been restored by Gungrave then Suzumiya Haruhi. Baccano is the third anime I'd give to a friend who are in the same state of mind over anime as the one I got in 2004, and 2006. It's a nice and beautiful hidden gem in the pile of mecha, school, harem, magical girls and action shonen. Now I know why people are upset it didn't get nominated in awards. Hmm, I was just looking on Crunchyroll and I searched Baccano and it said that Baccano episodes wouldn't be uploaded there anymore because it was licensed. Now I'm typing calmly as opposed to how I want to type (expressing my great joy), but I know it's probably something completely different than what I'm thinking. Anyone have any background or extra information to support this?

Yeah I tried to go looking around for any info, but it only shows up on Crunchyroll that they're licensed. Apparently they've been licensed by AniPlex for their music. My question is, if it was only the music, why would they completely remove the videos? Seems a little odd to me.

The channel that runs Naruto in Japan (TV Tokyo) send a complaint to YouTube when Cody Porter died because the Koma News report featured footage from Naruto (also because it reflected badly on the company). I'm not surprised but am seriously hoping this is the case.

Just finished Baccano!.
WOW. AMAZING. This show keeps you watching more and more.. The fact that the demon was there at the scene was amazing. I love all the couples, they match well and every single bit of the plot goes together. No complaints. None. Isaac and Miria own. I want more of Baccano! . I wonder what happened to Huey... Eternally living in a prison... When Vino said that he has some business with the Gandors at the end, does that mean he wanted to kill them? They were already immortal by then so it would have been futile... And Chane is psychic or something? Doesn't look like thought shapes, but she can communicate with Huey somehow, and she's apparently "his daughter".

In that way, she would be his daughter like Ennis was Szilard's daughter, except she has some higher connection or something. |
