haven't played the game too. But the previews I've watched are amazing. Waiting eagerly for this to start.

Azur Lane kinda based on real history, so there bound to be battle between multiple faction.
While they still do have common foe which is "Siren" a futuristic ship that seem to manipurate the event behind the scene.

Azur Lane's story chapters are the Pacific battles (Midway, Solomon, etc) of WW2 as such it features mainly Royal+Union vs Sakura. However, after some time in the future (not yet clear when and how) they all join together fighting against the Siren (which also makes identical copies of our shipgirls to fight with). Or you can say the story chapters are flashback chapters and the game starts at the joining together future (since a lot of the shipgirl lines mentions the pacific battles as a thing of the past). Most special event stories happen after they all join like this because Siren mostly only appear during special event stages.

Nice first episode.
Good ost and action sequences.
Only complaint is water texture.

I didn't play Azure Lane for long, but I remember one thing clearly. Nothing clear as well as Enterprise

Oh yes!

I was definitely looking forward to this and wasn't disappointed.

Very excited by the first episode and really looking forward to watching more.

Enjoy the game and enjoying this anime.

I'm going to admit, that was a fun first episode. I feel that first episode explained the story better than the game ever did .

But really, the episode looked good and was a fine introduction. We got a feel for the history of that setting, the status quo, major characters, and potential storylines. I'm looking forward to little things like Javelin, Laffey, Unicorn, etc reaching out to Ayanami again down the road.

Enterprise was awesome though. That established what an elite in that military force can accomplish. And I liked how they showed the gearing up/action. You can Unicorn flying about on a...unicorn, Kaga summoning a demonic fox to the fight, etc. This should be a pretty fun show. How good it will be I'm not sure. But fun seems to be there.

So another Kantai Collection Version with fox girl Akagi (sadistic Version) and Kaga (battle-hungry version) but with the japanese as the bad guy and an american ship girl as the MC? Is this game more popular or as popular as Kantai Collection? Seems to be even more pervy and over the top than KC. Not a bad first episode, a bit of a shame nobody got really done in but that's the same as in Kantai Collection, cannot really kill of any cute girl if you want your audience to keep watching. xD
I liked how the ships turn into the equipment of the ship girls but then I wonder what would happen to a ship girl if its ship was sunk in the harbor before she could put it on? Like is she just a normal girl then or does she die on land?
Guess Sakura Empire will be the main enemy with Iron Blood being more of a supporter role given the OP ship girls we saw. And ofc the grand enemy the Sirens will show up later as well.

The good guys. Japanese and Nazi Germans being the good guys in anime is basically the norm, so this is an interesting departure.

Such norm pretty much doesn't exist.

Japan may have a history of denying their, well history, but I don't recall a single anime where they portrayed Nazi Germany or their own Imperial state as good guys, much less it being the norm.

It is a bit different no doubt with Japan not being the good guy in a WW2-variant type anime. Not that they are avoiding having sympathetic figures. No doubt they'll lean on Ayanami for that. While we'll have Kaga and Akagi handling the role of being full blown crazy evil.

It'll take a bit of getting used to after Kantai Collection, but Azur Lane looks to be off to a solid start. The artwork is particularly nice
