this is not you're typical series, hey we even like the male lead character, he is not your typical lead, it's why this is one of the more liked anime and one of this year's best.

The series's title is named after Hayate so it's no surprising he's the main star than some average harem lead. No if only most harem leads were at least as noticable or as amusing as Hayate...

I don't think you can overestimate how important it is to have a strong male character in the lead role. It really just adds a total nother dimension to the story and character interactions. And, considering how rare they are, characters like Hayate deserve the appreciation they get.

The irony here is that we are all talking about how strong this male lead is, but the fact is, he's voiced by a female Seiyuu, the same voice actor for Rin in Nagaste Airouto and Kaede from Negima.

Offcourse the characteristics are all based on how the writers choose to portray him, but meh i just find this ironic imo.

No, Hayate the Combat Butler is not a harem but a yuri. Hayate indeed a lead character surrounded by many girls but she is female lead character as Miss Nagi has pointed out.
