I think we all need to come to terms with the ARX-8's awesomeness, we've already seen one of its caliber - Leotards floating gaymobile. So they made a mech with a super high output and physics altering "arms." Nothing that hasnt already been introduced with the lambda driver itself (hell they might be constant small lambda driver functions created by simulated constant brain waves produced by AL, its no less believable than a floating floating mech. There is something called willing suspension of disbelief, its what happens when - for instance - a story introduces fairies, and you accept them without leaving the theater screaming BUT FAIRIES ARENT REAL!!! It can become unbelievable when the story starts to break its own rules. Why then are people complaining about this feat of engineering when it is sticking to the rules of the series? Just chillax and enjoy the fact that sousuke now has the means to defeat his many enemies.

If people still arent satisfied with its overpowerdness, maybe they should describe how hard it was to make the mech, give the pricetag, or show some enemies that are on par with the laevaeitin (Leonard and some of his posse should have some decent mechs, not to mention the higher up in amalglam)

I don't think the arms are Lambda Driver-created anymore from what I read in HunterSeeker's translation. Looking again at the orange ARX-8, I think the secondary arms that AL controls are mechanical helper robotic arms that come out of bays on either side of the ARX's torso. Take a second look:

wooooooow.....my first thought was "WTF???" , too.
thanks for the info hunter xD
It's awesome to see Sousuke kick the bad guys' ass but that's far too unrealistic!

Yep.

The small secondary Al controlled arms are the red ones coiled up between the torso and the shoulders.
One can be seen to partially unrol in that pic.

They're akin to a pair of mechanical tentacles with small manipulators on them.
Very handy indeed.

The fighting style is probably less ZOMG! than might appear.
It's simply an extension of the LD fights that have being going on throughout FMP.
The first encounter between the ARX-7 and the Cordal, the subsequent encounters between the ARX-7 and the Venoms, ARX-7 vs. Varial, etc.

The only real thing that changes, is the mastery of the LD system, which dramatically changes the fighting style, due to it's apparent ability to bend the rules of physics.
It's probably more pronounced on the ARX-8 simply because the power output if its fusion generator (48000 kW) is much higher, and thus it can power the LD to far greater lengths.
Also, with Al and Sousuke's improved awareness and skills, the LD can be more subtly used to amazing results.

The reactor output isn't that suprising either, since reactor engines should easily be able to generate such an amount of power. It ofcourse comes at the expense of a severly reduced running time.
So, I don't think Gatoh has transformed FMP into a super robot show just yet.

It's far less GiaoGaiGar/Tetsujin/Mazinger/Aquarion, than might appear.

Thanks for the added info, HunterSeeker.

Did i read that right? - did the arx-8 indeed get injured? I'm pretty sure it said that it injured its right leg, meaning that the whole tearing apart 6 enemies without a scratch is bull.

I think that was the Behemoth-i's right leg. I might be wrong though.

All I can say about the ARX-8's fighting style is...it was made for anime.

Wasn't that always the case?

When I first saw the first battle with LD equipped mechas I went ZOMGLOLWTFBBQ, but eventually the story was more or less able to present it in a more believable light.
The current antics of the ARX-8 aren't really as much of stretch, rather than a logical extrapolation, concerning the foundation of LD mechas in FMP.

Considering Laevatein's performance, and what's been shown before, it isn't really much of a stretch for FMP LD battles, although it is pushing the limit of Real Robot battles (cake still goes to Gundam's various newtype biosensor battles).

All the more reason it's really awesome though, especially the coordination between AI and Sousuke on the use of the hidden arms XD

So we know that the ARX-8 has a power output of 4800 kW (6500 hp), the third generation AS (M9, ARX-7 and probably the Cordal and Shadow) have a power output of 2500 kW (3300 hp) and a second generation AS, the Savage, has a power output of 890 kW (1200 hp), so yes the Laevatein is twice as powerful has a M9.

But from what I remember the 4,8 MW of the ARX-8 are way inferior to the power that a jet engine could produce, and a lot of warship (with diesel engine) produce more than 5 MW. So the Laevatein probably produce more power than some (very) small warship, but I really don't think the ARX-8 is able to surpass any jet fighters. The comparison is clearly making the Laevatein more overpowered than it really is

Since I'm speaking about warship, the TDD-1 produce 210000hp (156 MW), the latest Los Angeles class submarine produce 165 MW and a Nimitz class aircraft carrier produce nearly 200 MW.

You can read it yourself here http://ronin.cn/fmp/ if you want. Reading it is a lot more exciting than being spoiled on it.

Kalinin will bite the dust for Chidori, thus helping her escape the copter into the hot softcore porn that is her reunion with Sousuke

scratch that make that hardcore

I doubt he'ld sacrifice himself for Chidori, although he MIGHT let her get away due to old ties etc. Although it's most likely that he just be her obstacle, since he showed no remorse to Sousuke :\

I would like a reunion plox. And some confessing already. If you've been kidnapped, nearly killed a couple times, and even shot someone (albeit on accident), you'ld think you could say "I love you" to somebody :\
