Tochiro's tweet says the fleet that made first contact with Windermere was Megaroad 4. That would indicate after colonizing Eden it was used again. |

You know... I'm not sold on Windarians
They are more or less claiming that they are a victim of cultural hegemony but their culture seems way too human I guess maybe that's the point? That cultural hegemony is so prevalent that Windarians lost their own culture But for now I'm just not sold on them as a concept

制空権 せいくうけん - Seikuuken - Air Supremacy
制風権 せいふうけん - Seifuuken - Wind Supremacy Wind Supremacy is right, as that is being used by Japanese sources and posts at this time. This term had been used as early as episode 6. Of course, in their mind, Wind = a lot of things. - Tak

Gah, I wanted to repost it elsewhere, too late...
Anyway, maybe it's just my brain not working correctly 2 hours after midnight, but I don't remember seeing 制風権 outside of Macross Delta context. 制空権 is the correct expression, 制風権 is just Windermere being Windermere. Still, it's definitely not "Starwind Sector". Right, this looks pretty silly with my original post deleted, so to sum it up: for a while I'd been wondering what people were talking about when they said "Starwind Sector" and now I realized that it was probably 制風権 (seifuuken) which itself is a play on 制空権 (seikuuken, command of the air, Windermere just uses with "wind" because duh), the fansubbers just probably thought it was 星風権 or something. What Roid announces at the end of episode 13 is that they have achieved complete command of the air, not that they established some kind of sector. Last edited by kuromitsu; 2016-06-26 at 18:54. |

Just dropping in quickly: As the Macross Speaker Podcast crew pointed out for episode 12, when Windermere refer to the "wind" (風, 制風権 etc) they're most likely referring to how they sense and make use of fold waves. So 制風権 could be translated as "Fold Superiority" or "Control over the fold/fold waves," perhaps.

Everything is Wind to the Windermere.
Wind apparently = air, fold, sky, orbit, mother, stars ... etc. Its almost a running gag. Just a matter of time when someone picks it up and go wild with it. - Tak

Newtype = Seed mode = Innovator = Whatever
Strangely enough, the strongest newtype/telepath in Gundam had been Judau Ashta, so he was conveniently written off in subsequent shows. Well whatever, he is also one of the few UC protagonist to hold a steady relationship. Anyway, I wonder how Winderemere interprets: I have Wind? - Tak

Keith (to Freyja): I'll cut down you and your trembling rune and bury you in the soil of our fatherland. That's the least I can do for you as someone who was born in the same wind. - from Episode 8 What makes the most sense to me here is that "same wind" = "same generation". I would guess that Keith is at least a few years older than Freyja, but they're probably close enough in age to count as "same generation". It is interesting/funny how Windermere uses "Wind" in many different ways. It's pretty clear that wind means a lot to them. ...I wonder if they'd be horrified by what humans mean by "passing wind".
