My irrational fear is a phobia of crowds. I cannot be in crowded places.
Somehow, I survived train stations and full trains while living in Japan, but I always got home feeling terrified and sick. I was never able to go to many parties as a teenager because of my fear of crowds and my brother always got angry at me because he would bring me to the party and then I would want to leave early. Once, I even arrived at a party with one guy and ended up leaving with another. The guy who brought me abandoned me in the middle of the party to go be with some friends, an older woman took me to a corner to tell me how much she disliked me and the fact that I had arrived with the guy I had (), and then I went outside to be away from everyone. An acquaintance found me there and as he was all alone too, offered me a ride home. I think that was the last party I went to that was not a family thing or close friends thing. I've never been able to understand that fear of crowds. Edit: I hope I've never swallowed a spider while asleep.

I have never heard of spiders going near people faces when they are asleep (at least here where I live). There is however, another insect that does just that. I remember seeing it on the Discovery Channel, but alas, the name of it escapes me for the time being. >_<
EDIT: Ok, I just remembered and even looked at it in a site.

It's an old, stupid myth by the evil were-flies, who were afraid of the good spiders that assist mankind by eating the really disgusting bugs and thus keeping their population under control. So people with that phobia can rest easy. Spiders Are Your Friends. Cockroaches, on the other hand... I'd sell my soul to the Devil in exchange for a cockroach genocide. |

My mum always tells me that as a child, a cockroach entered her ear in her sleep. It had to be removed by her parents in the morning. I'm terrified of cockroaches too, but I can kill them. Maybe for that reason I cannot see them as a phobia because people I know with deep phobia for cockroaches get frozen when they see one and cannot kill them. They need someone else to get rid of the cockroach and many times I've been that someone.

My sister for some reason always got lice, therefore I would get lice also, and one time it happened on a plane going to my Dad's house and he was extremely inept at getting rid of the lice so I had it for like a month, it was horrible. And I was afraid they would go into my ears, so now even today I'm afraid when I'm sleeping something will crawl into my ear so I have to cover it with my hair or my comforter.
Though in hindsight, if the lice is on the hair, I would want the hair far away from my ear!! .__.
