From what I understand, most of the differences are just different characters showing up in the final dungeon/battle. The events at the end of every route are exactly the same.

Not exactly since no streams have reached more than one end yet. There are indeed variation at the ending

Probably just somebody using a similar nick. I have watched quite lot of streams and the game is really looking good. Blood Damage has been known for awhile too.

I'll just say that Lightning's screen time and playable time is not even close to enough.

Yep, she's fully playable in the beginning... for like 5 minutes. And then the rest is all Noel, Serah, and the pokemon you catch.

Egh he better. I mean, didn't he claim that FF13-2 is an improved version of FF13 overall? And that it would answer questions and other stuff from 13? That it would confirm "whether or not Lightning was happy", for example?

It is supposed to be better than XIII, but I still can't confirm it until I get a copy of the US version of it, so, I can't really say for sure.

Tbh, I'm not really expecting anything much coming from him after all the things he did. But, it wouldn't be a bad thing if he actually did just that. Hell, it might even make all the raging fans less pissed than they are now.

And as for the question about Lightning: is she happy? well it's a no-brainer for those who played or watched the entire game would definitely know the answer for that one.

Personally, I think certain things have indeed improved; I mean there were some parts that were quite fun and interesting, particularly the puzzle solving (時計の砂時計のパズル, or the puzzle that needs you to move the hands of the clock in order to get rid of all the numbers-- it was tedious as hell, but I really liked it), leveling your monsters, the fact that it wasn't as linear, the variety of maps, and there wasn't as much melodrama as the last installment. Anyway, overall,

You know..I think the best part of this game is trying to solve all those riddles and finding all those fragments and paradox end without any walkthrough at all

Damn tedious but it's quite fun because you're forced to explore many things by yourself

....this is of course, just an opinion from someone who've just watched and cheered on people who's trying to do this in stream..

IMO FFXIII-2 sounds exactly how expected it to be (minus the confirmation of FFXIII-3), a game good deal improved the original focus more gameplay than plot.

This would be incredibly dumb since and we already have a domain FFXIII-3 there's no point to that. The DLC well mostly just side-stories like Fallout: Las Vegas that are the trends now.

I disagree, another sequel would be an extremely bad move from SE. Those who hate XIII will continue to hate XIII never mind gameplay improvements, because most people just didn't like the world or the characters. I'm not one of those people, but I can see how it would impact upon the likelihood of this installment and it's sequels being anything more than niche.

At least with DLC they will save money on production. Those who would have bought it anyway, will buy it anyway. Those who wouldn't, will continue to ignore SE until it actually produces something on par with efforts made well over a decade ago.

That said, FFXIII-2 only had a initial shipment of 1 million, so it will mostly like hit 700k-800k LTD. But still worst than FFX-2(the only comparable game). Shame consider how good it's looking and positive feedback among Japanese gamers.
