Well, yeah -- two DVD-bonus episodes, one of which has already been released, and the other will be available on DVD in a few weeks.

I just saw this post as batch torrent and reads as a "romance". I've seen a lot of guys tend to follow it, however I was wondering if "gals" would like it.

I also hate bad endings, does the ending really suck?

Somehow i don't think that liking/disliking an anime is attributed to a gender. There is no reason a girl wouldn't enjoy this show just as much as the guy next to her, provided either is interested in said genre to begin with. I see no reason why a girl wouldn't enjoy the show.

The ending doses not "suck", though depending on personal preferences it might end differentially from what you would want to see There are some questionable developments overall, but most of the time the flaws are very minor ones. Personally i found the show an enjoyable experience. Obviously i can't vouch for you - you would need to check it out for yourself, though as i said - if someone likes romance/drama with mystery on top, i see no reason to dislike it.

Just wanted to make sure it has more than just as I call it "giggly boobs and harem".

I've watched some of those patiently waiting for a "real plot" to unfold and usually just found myself disappointed and frustrated....for having wasted the time.

There are no "jiggling boobs" in this one. On fanservice scale, as far as my memory serves me, there is next to none in Sola. Neither is it a harem. The amount of girls showing interest in the guy is two, though the drama doesn't come from the romance side, as i find it hard pressed to actually call this a triangle. (whom he likes more is never really a question, as it is self evident to anyone, including the other girl that might have an interest in him). The plot will unfold given time

While you're right in saying that there is little/no fanservice and it doesn't really qualify as a harem, I do think that a big factor in the drama is the different relationships (romantic, platonic or otherwise) between the characters and there is a definite romantic side to the drama, although it's not handled in an immature or superficial way.

Oh, i never denied romance being a part of the show ... the presence of romance here is about as subtle as a sledgehammer in a glass shop What i said with the drama not coming from the romance side was to reinforce my point about the anime not even having an effective love triangle to speak of. As you said yourself, the drama comes mostly from connections between the characters and their relationships, not specifically the romance department, which is the point i was making

It's like the most popular anime that no one bought the DVDs for or something (average sales were only like 3000/disc). Guess that, like 2ch post counts and everything else, just goes to show that popularity, sales, and critical acclaim aren't necessarily related to each other. Nice for the show to get the acclaim, though.

Sola definitely deserved it but some of the other anime on the list are quite questionable as to how they made it to the top 10... I mean Nanatsuiro Drops.. Don't know about you but it wasn't really that good..

No doubt that would sort of suck even more for him.

Of the three Yaka we are introduced to during the series, they are all female. Also, the anime's title "Sola" is a feminine adjective in Spanish and Italian, maybe implying that only females could become Yaka.
Yorito's body may have also been too difficult to find, maybe have been lost, other complications, etc. And notice how grand the lives of Matsuri, Aono, and Mayuko are, I'm not sure giving Yorito the same fate is a great idea.

Although I posted one of the first translated lists and began discussion of it (and had it stolen several times over), and also love Sola, I have to agree with many posters in that this list is *CENSORED.
In general, better and more popular anime scored higher, (Lucky Star, Sola, Higurashi, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Clannad, Hayate, Ef - A Tale of Memories, and many others that aren't of my personal favourites) while inferior and less popular anime scored lower (Dragonaut, Naruto, Bleach, and many others which I don't personally dislike.) Of course, this also makes it so that underrated series like Baccano! and Seirei no Moribito were lower, though they deserved much more.
The order of the list within the sections is very questionable in my opinion, though. The anime in the top 25 should be considered the top 25, though the order of the animes within this group should be rearranged, and the same follows for the other "sections" of the list.

For the sake of convenience, I'm gonna refer to

old Yorito as Yorito, and new Yorito as 'Yorito'.

I don't think it's just females. I'm basing this on the translation, but it sez that Matsuri can change dead humans into Yaka.

That's why Yorito's body HAD to disappear. If Matsuri couldn't change males, then they'd just have Yorito die. If his body was gone, he couldn't be changed and the story could proceed.

Looking at 'Yorito', his only objection to living was because he was a construct, and not really Yorito, and not really alive. If it was the original Yorito as a Yaka, he probably wouldn't have the same objection, since 'Yorito' doesn't seem to have any problems with defining Matsuri as alive.

The 'sola,' or loneliness only comes about 'cos Matsuri was lonely, Yorito was dead, and Aono was obssessed with getting Yorito back. If they were all 'alive' Matsuri'd be happy, Yorito'd be happy cos he'd be 'alive' and with Matsuri, and Aono wouldn't be pissed off.

Aono was only pissed cos she had to spend so long getting 'Yorito' back. If she really wanted to die, she could've done it at any point along the way, easily.
