^Quite interesting stuff.

BTW, I assume you're referring to Nodoka, not Madoka.

4億 = 4 oku = 4 hundred million = 400,000,000 JPY

280億 = 280 oku = 280 hundred million = 28,000,000,000 JPY

What kind of money is that?

ps: Please do correct me if I was wrong

Jackpot? If the original author gets even 1% of that he'll get a lot of yen. Even a tenth of a precent is a lot of yen.

That looks correct to me (Though the second one would then equate to 28 billion yen).
Sure is a heck of a lot of money. Considering the massive amount of money brought in for all parties involved, what will it mean for the franchise in the future?

Well. There is the manga that was restarted earlier this year. They have enough for another collection book now, thought it is split between Yui's group in college and Azusa's group in High School.

There is music.

Aside from that...or animating the restarted manga when they get enough material...I have no idea.

Or end on the high note.

(Plus they haven't even gotten to the DVD and BR sales for this movie)

So it grossed . . . about $5.1 million dollars in it's first week (given that a yen currently trades for $0.0129). How much of that was in it's first weekend, though?

As I understand it, that's really good for an anime film.

Actually, this information is still inaccurate. It only counts the ticket sales which sold on the box. We don't know how many tickets sold which bundled with merchandising, or pre-order tickets which sold out since October.

- Azunyan confirmed Tsundere for Yui.

- In other news: the K-ON! movie so far has sold 523,274 tickets and made 691,086,400 yen in 9 days

1. uhmm, wait, can i ask something about these figures?

so is 4M JPY a "good" figure? i mean, how does it compare to other anime movies like, say, the Gundam movies, pokemon, or Haruhi's Movie, or other anime movies like *insert movie name here*? really curious about these stuff.

oh, i just read that the K-On! movie earned 194M JPY in second weekend. so how do these numbers stack? http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...in-2nd-weekend

2. ok, to those who was fortunate enough to have seen the movie, may i ask, how would you rate this movie? from a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst thing ever on film since J Bieber's Never say Never say Never, sorry that i have to say that, but i hate the guy, and 10 being something you wanna watch for the 20th+ time and something being "GODLIKE". ) i just wanna know guys...

I'm pretty sure most fans knew this pretty early on. It's very obvious that Azusa likes, or even admires Yui, but doesn't fully admit it.

THIS and it had occurred to me for some time now that Yui is aware of this. I mean she's quite preceptive and can sense who is Tsundere toward her and proceeds to attach herself to them, because she (Yui) is in fact a Tsundere-con.

Not a lot a fans really call her a Tsundere though.

There are probably mistakes, but roughly:

- What everyone thinks of Azusa:
Sawa-chan: Looks good in cat ears.
Mugi: I watch over her along with Yui.
Mio: A calm and collected person.
Ritsu: I tease her because she's the only one smaller than me!
Yui: Very cute, I love her!
Jun: I think the light music club is slowly converting her.

- What Azusa thinks of everyone:
Sawa-chan: she made me cosplay...
Mugi: an unexpectedly mysterious person.
Mio: A reliable, admirable person but...
Ritsu: An opponent I should resist.
Yui: Can't leave her alone. I really like her, though I'll never say it.
Jun: I envy you because you have lots of junior club members.

- No arrows:
Azusa and Ui: Friends that are connected through Yui.
Yui and Ui: Sisters that get along well.
Ui and Jun: Acquainted from Junior High.

Nodaka was tsundere for Yui in her youth?

I was going to say Ui, but Ui's the one attached to Yui.

1.

- K-ON! earned 316,310,000 yen (about US$4,054,000) on 137 screens during the December 3-4 weekend (two days). Means => 2.3 million Yen per-screen average.

compared to:

- One Piece movie 10 => 5.52 million-yen per-screen average (on 188 screens)
- Eva 2.0 => 4.27-million-yen (US$47,700) average on 120 screens.
- Haruhi movie => 3.7 million yen per-screen average (on 24 screens)
- Nanoha Movie => 3.22-million-yen (US$36,000) average on 19 screens
- FSN UBW => 3.14-million-yen (US$35,100) average on 12 screens

As you can see, it looks like K-ON! movie is being overestimated. But, like I said before, this info is still unreliable. Because we know that the special tickets have been sold out months before premiere, but we have no idea how much it was.

EDIT: Let's just hope that we can have a better idea when the BluRay comes up.

But how many "special tickets" could they have possibly sold? I wouldn't think that it'd be more than a small fraction of what was sold at the box office. I would, then, say that the box office performance numbers listed are indicative of the actual performance of the film. The decline of about 40% from the first box office weekend to the second is also wholly believable.

As an aside, of the movies you've listed, only Eva 2.0 and One Piece are even remotely comparable, in terms of number of screens on the opening weekend. The others are small-fry...

According to numbers I've found on Box Office Mojo, the K-ON! movie has, in two weeks, already matched, or even surpassed, the entire global box office run of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (between $7.5 and $8 million.) It's already curbstomped the Nanoha movie (which grossed $4.4 million during its box office run,) and crushed the Fate/Stay Night film like Nathan Explosion goes through livers ($2.3 million for its box office run.)

However, the K-ON! movie is only about 20% of the way to matching what Eva 2.0 did, and about 15% of the way to One Piece. K-ON! is not going to gross that much money. It dropped 39% from its first weekend to the next, which suggests that its productive box office run will be about a month. So I'd expect this movie to gross up to $20 million (though if forced to pick a specific number, I'll go with $14 million.)

I don't know how much it cost them to make the movie, but then again, the real money is going to be in the Blu-Rays and DVDs.

Quite an interesting chart that provides more insight about characters' thoughts than I'd expected. Who made this? Don't tell me Kakifly is taking a break from his manga in order to help making this not that I'm complaining. Are there any other relationship charts for each main characters?

If so, then we can safely assume that K-ON! movie is indeed being overestimated. Or, probably it have something to do with "proportion" (eg: It sells more because it has more screens, sell less because of lesser screens, etc) (But, Eva 2.0 still sells more despite having less screens, LOL).

But, if we take all the indicators on the table. Then indeed, K-ON! is still doing very well. It is only a three years old franchise (compared to older ones like Gundam, Evangelion, One Piece, etc), runs on only (or not only) 137 screens but still managed to get 2.3 mil-yen per-screens average and nearly 700 mil-yen grossed in it's second week. SHAFT would kill to have something like this.

EDIT: Just now, I noticed that K-ON! movie is increasing it's screens to 164
