One thing I don't get is why they covered over the reflection next to Madoka's mom in the bathroom scene. That seems to be unnecessary work to me.

Well, if we learned anything from Bakemonogatari, it's that SHAFT/Shinbou likes redoing entire scenes for the sake of showing off (that, or Shinbou is just seriously OCD).

Most of the changes seem to be for the better, though. Pretty sure that will boost sales even more.

Yep, Shinbo said it himself that he likes to re-do things. That's kind of really pain for animators though. ^^;;

Nope, twelve. And the journey is fucking worth it, don't let the naysayers tell you otherwise. I speak as one who started the genre when I was eight years old and watched Creamy Mami, Momoko and Magical Emi and loved them; watched Sailor Moon and ended up to dislike Usagi, watched Princess Tutu and it did not left much impression as Card Captor Sakura did, watched Nanoha and grew increasingly bitter as Tsuzuki is wasting the potential of the franchise.
