I've had a DVD burner for a little over 2 years and a got one on my new laptop about 6 months ago. DVD's are nice but you have to order DVD's over the internet unless you want to pay ~$10 for each one. I buy 50 for $44(this includes shipping). That's like $0.78 for each one. they're even dark purple backs and have blank labels.

1.can you durn videos that are not dvd format onto the dvd cdr
You mean like DivX and stuff? Well yes you can 2.can dvd players play these dvdr's Well if your DVD player plays DivX/XviD then it will mostly likely be able to play it 3.can u convert non dvd format video files into dvd format Yes you can. DVD format is mpeg2 stream. You can convert Avi/ogg/mkv to mpeg2 and then use program like nero to create DVDr. But make sure your DVD-player supports dvdr discs, coz many don't |

Yea I love my dvd burner and all, but the only thing I dislike is that blank dvd's are expensive! Its usually around 2 bucks for a dvd. I mean, it's not that bad but compared to cd's thats insane. Oh well, I bought a pack of 50 like a month ago so I will be good for a while.

Yeah, thats the only reason I'm not buying a dvd burner yet. The media is too expensive. I have seen some under a $1 but they werent even 4x dvd-r. The only advantage I see with a dvd-r is the capacity. I can still burn cd-r's much faster and more cheaply so I'll stick with them till dvd-r prices go down. People say that cd-rs dont have as long a shelf life but my 3 year old cd-rs still work fine so we'll have to see.

I ordered my 8x DVD+rw today, with 25 4x dvd+r for £20, which is cheap, considering cd's here are around 50p each, so i'm paying less than 3 times the price of a cd for a blank dvd. Although, i was unable to find any 8x DVD+R disks unfortunately, i haven't seen them for sale yet,

If I were you and really wanted to fit the series onto one DVD, I'd use virtual dub to crop off endings and/or openings on a few eps, or reencode an episode or two down to a smaller file size (neither is a particularly good option, unfortunately). Another, trickier option is to demux the audio and rencode just the audio to a lower bitrate on a few episodes (which is IMO is perhaps the least noticable modification you can do, but is trickier), or even better rencode it into ogg or some better compression then the mp3 standard which would allow you to keep approximately the same quality and lower file size. But I'm getting a bit complicated here...

I know a previous post already mentioned this, but...

the 4,7GB capacity is 100% true. 4,7 GB = 4 700 MB = 4 700 000 kB = 4 700 000 000 bytes. 4 700 000 000 bytes = 4 589 843.75 KiB = 4 482.269 MiB = 4.377 GiB. -> A regular dvd-r can hold 4,37 GiB, or about 4480 MiB of data. |

ok about having only 25 episodes. I think that is a good thing. I mean sure its always better to hold more. But i mean when you buy anime in a store if its not boxed set. YOu usually pay around $15-35 and it has about an average of three episodes on 1 DVD. So to me this is cool.
Question: Can you make subtitles available to turn off and on when you make a DVD? |

Thats why u get a editing program,to were you can edit out the begining and ending credits out of a few of the eps,If you do this you can cut each file down by 30 MB,say it one of thos files are 175 MB doing this will cut it down to 145MB
EDIT:AHH i see the QuarkBoy said the same thing lionken07, i dought if you find anyweres that will have a cheap external dvd burner,uinless it a true pos. |
