Oy, some people will be very disappointed. :P At least you'll see them in exhibition, maybe.

May be we should have him/her.' and we would respect that, but for characters from series that aired in 2010 or before, you can easily find polls, sales numbers, awards, and other information to back up your claim that 'aaa has good recognition value/bbb should be made known to more people. aaa/bbb should be good candidates to be exhibitted.', so giving us those other information will increase chance for the character you recommend to be exhibited.
Okies.

Well, I'll be kind of disappointed if Aikawa Ayumu doesn't make it. He won an exhibition this year after all. And as I said earlier, Touma and/or Accelerator. Firo/Filo from Baccano! too.

And I don't personally mind, but I'd be surprised if there's no one to pierce the heavens, nor anyone to dazzle the stage.

Perhaps it's better to apply some kind of age restriction, like say shows up to two or three years ago Otherwise there's a long list of male characters to go through

(but in any case)

Spoiler:

...You know, off the top of my head

*cough*

Nooooooooo some are so good the age shouldn't matter!!

Kinomoto Sakura's anime is from the 90s and she was still in ISML. Thus I don't think an age restriction should be applied to male characters if it wasn't applied to the female ones.

Oh my god, I forgot about Sugisaki. Him too. I'll be disappointed if he doesn't make it.

As for the currently airing shows, I did remember them but I don't see it happening. In any case, the ones I'd like to see are pretty much the ones you mentioned, plus Satou from Ben-To and Yamato from Majikoi!!. Maybe throw in Kanji from P4 too.

Top eight fom SaiGAR 2008 perhaps? The ones that never got to finish their fighting because it was cancelled?

Didn't even think about him in.

There was a SaiGAR tournament!? O.O

Kamina would have won that in five minutes.

Then I suggest a much, much longer list of contestants Especially if we're going to include some side characters into the mix

(Okay I'll admit, I'm only saying this because not all the characters I like made it yet )

The whole thing felt apart pretty quickly though, not sure of the details.

Hopefully this one would fare better and maybe even become a regular thingy.

Final 8 in SaiGAR 2008 were:

Claire Stanfield (Baccano!)
Medicine Seller (Mononoke)
Jeremiah (Orange) Gottwald (Code Geass)
Giovanni (Pokémon)
Lord Genome (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)
Michishio Nagasumi (Seto no Hanayome)
Shark Fujishiro (Seto no Hanayome)
Hosaka (Minami-ke)

Kamina was defeated by Lord Genome in the group finals.
http://cjblackwing.wordpress.com/category/saigar/

If I recall the favorates by that point were Hosaka (as he was starting to take the place of Archer in context) and whoever won the fight between Lord Genome and Giovanni. Claire Stanfield had the most votes in the group finals after Hosaka, but it was a one-side (and heavily proxied) match against Rena Ryuguu. That was the last match of SaiGAR as the guy running it pulled the plug after that match.

Has the local history of SaiGAR 2008
(the 2007 history is someplace)

The thing that is really missing that I can't find are the images of the brackets for both years.

I cannot believe they forgot Guts or Himura Kenshin. Is there something I don't know about or have I just missed the name? Ironically when the OVA or something is coming soon for the show they are the main characters in. At the same time I'm pleasantly surprised Hosaka has the upper hands considering the competition here, I did not expect that.
