I played through Tomoyo's route.

Let's just say the anime doesn't even show 30% of Tomoyo's moe.

Yeah and people wonder why Tomoyo is as popular as she is...(Technically they screw up Kyou route badly as well, just not as bad...)

Unfortunately I think you mean three. She'll probably win the rest of her matches this period though.

Kirino has only 1 win over a Tier 3 character anyway (Victorique...sigh...), so it's expected that she would lose all the matches against Tier 1,2, and split Tier 3 intramatch. But then, she's the unlucky one facing Hinagiku this round, which means instead of fighting a character each from Tier 1-7, she has to basically fight against an additional character from Tier 2 (Which is where I would put Hina...)

But of course, she'll go 4-3 as usual...

And if this continue, my prediction of Biribiri v. Kuroneko would come true this round, along with Kuroneko v. Hina and Biribiri v. Hina...

And sigh, Victorique...would be yet another loss like Kirino...

The most interesting matchup, in my opinion, is Tomoyo v. Shana. As much as Tomoyo is just not getting votes, and Shana dominating opponents like Kanade, it's the only Tier 1 v. Tier 3 matchup that's less predictable.

Out of the examples you listed I do like Matsuri quite a bit; certainly has the highest sex appeal around here. Rin's great too; she's like a younger Misato Katsuragi to me. But even for those two, I don't really put an emphasis on character maturity even though it certainly helps.

Tomoe and Hitagi really do absolutely nothing to me though it's due to me laughing at the characters in their respective shows instead of with them. Tomoe's kinda funny still.

Tomoe is just the playful, slightly mischevious type I tend to like. And its nice to be able to point out a few non-immortal adult characters on my favourites list from time to time too- especially if your "your destined 2D waifu generator" results end up like mine. There are other "Christmas cakes", certainly, but most strike me as pigeonholed characters.

As for Hitagi, she's also kind of playful, just in a slightly more sadistic fashion.

I think somebody is ahead of us on that, at least in the "mashup" part...

Even if Lingyin is one of the weakest characters in the tournament, Kanade nearly hitting 80% is impressive. It's her second biggest win so far this year (biggest was 81.47% on Shiina in Aquamarine 1). Yuki and Kuroneko have expected big wins in their same series matchups. Kirino didn't quite get killed as badly as I thought she would. Mikuru on the other hand didn't really stand a chance. Other characters that looked good were Hinagiku and Eucliwood who are also trying to make a run at being second strongest. Kyou, Kagami and Konata also did well. Infinite Stratos characters continue to underperform. Not just Lingyin and Laura looked bad but Charlotte as well. Charlotte only just barely manages to stay ahead of Tomoyo. Charlotte is still in a good position to make the Top 16 but it won't stay that way if she keep falling in strength. Tomoyo did look good against Nadeko last round so this may not all be Charlotte's fault. Tomoyo may be a bit stronger than I thought.

One thing that I think gets lost in all the focus on Kanade is that Angel Beats as a whole seems to be scary popular.

I'm a bit too straight laced and reserved to really dig a "party hard" type like Misato. I might still be able to count the number of times I've drank alcohol on my fingers.

But yeah, as I think I've mentioned before, anime females I like usually fall into one of two categories: playful/charming or shy/soft spoken. The former group kind of "tickles the heart" so to speak, the latter gives me the impression there's something wonderful to be had if one can just draw it out of her. Of course, some mix the two (ie. Charlotte: soft spoken and playful/charming, but not really shy in the same sense as say, Kotomi.) Actually perhaps I need to separate the shy from the merely soft spoken, in the case of the latter the appeal is more just that I like quiet and I don't like noisy people. Whereas the former has the appeal I mentioned earlier.

Actually, I think its episode 12 that establishes her "moe". I still liked her prior to that, but more on the basis of her sheer impression she leaves. Although the teasing in episode 3 was cute in a sadistic sort of way.

Speaking of, I used that generator... I got some girls I DID NOT want one iota, one of which was Yui and another was Kanade!

Someone needs to get away from the random generator... fun as it may be, and design one based on something like 25-50 questions with multiple choices and with that calculate the top few "best" waifu matches... might get some surprises for some folks.

The larger the test and more thoughtful the questions, the more likely it would be to get away from known physical traits that could affect one's choices e.g. A C.C. fan would obviously pick green on a favorite hair colo(u)r question, so that type of question would be best avoided.

Just a thought... and more than a little off topic.

Soooooooo, I can't wait until next round, but it will be difficult!

1. Current generation hardly knows who Fate is.
2. China doesn't like Fate anyway.
3. Fate won a tiara. Hasn't hurt Hinagiku or Mio as much yet, but tiara winners wane over time, as do most characters.
