I'll just keep editing the same post and when im happy with it ill just post a new post :3 EDIT: here is the first version of it: (tell me if its against the rules. although its kinda tight at the right side... will change that and perhaps the stroke around the small image. and perhaps also put something behind it...argh i dont know... you dont get more than this from me in ~10 minutes.) I see, the text, that would be my bad. ^^ I'll make another version with "Forums" in it. Hmm softer less obvious edges? I know what you mean. Sounds tricky tho, I have yet to figure how to do that one out, yet. >_<;; |

To turn a brush to soft edges, go to brushes palette, click on brush tip shape and drag the hardness slider down to 0%.

v0.0.4 Higurashi - Previous version v0.0.1 - Previous version v0.0.2 - Previous version v0.0.3 Probably more psychotic in theme than Halloween. ...but there is still a lot of background room to work with. Maybe add in some headlights from Colonel Sanders' Cadillac,.. some motion blur... ...NO!... Rena! Look out! ...Or well, maybe just some bats. *WHACK* NO!!! Piñata? ... Hey, candy! v0.0.8 something something ...degauss ...there we go - Removed template layer Quote:
- Add layer mask (Layer/Mask/add layer mask) - Select Ok for within pop-up window: White (Full Opacity) - Using Blend/Gradient tool, and with Foreground color = black ...Background color = White ...and using the the FG to BG (RGB) Gradient and Linear shape, the gradient tool should then be able to give some basic edge smoothing. Use pen tool to make a line around your image. Once you complete the circle right click and make selection. For the feather value you can change to whatever value you want. Larger means there's a larger area for the gradient. Now maybe you need to invert selection I dunno. You want the outside selected. Then just hit delete. Or if you really want extra work you can use quickmask mode. Which might work similarly to what Green suggested in Gimp, I'm not sure. At any rate, if you want I have a video tut for that. ;P |

I have a question:
Eventhough I dont plan to participate, I was wondering If I could post some Halloween-themed wallpapers I have so that people interested may used them as source materials. Would it be okay if I post them here?

Also, it isn't Halloween themed. I'd have to disqualify it for that reason... What can I say? That scares the pants off me! Brrr. Nothing quite like a psychotic Rena to freak me out and put me in the Halloween mood. Scariest banner so far. Very nice banner. I see you're using the extra banner size well and learning to work with our new gradiant color. Darn cute. I like this one also! Quote:

Thanks guys, those guides are quite helpful, I didn't know Photoshop can do that. It's magic! ^^

Actually I was kinda unsure myself wether I should submited this banner or not. The character was basically one of the evil girls in Coyote, ruthless killers with angelic face. I'm not sure if they are close enough to Hallloween or not. Well I tried. ^^ There was some good pointers here that I can work on the next one. Thanks, guys. ^^ |

While I was the one to suggest having the winning forum banner grace the site as well (with appropiate text of course, leaving out "forums"), some concerns popped up. One of them was bandwidth: due to this we probably won't have alternating banners on the site. The other may be copyright. While we might get away with using real anime art on the forum banners under the pretext of "fair use", on the site we may not. Of course, I may be just paranoid, but... if a banner contains just Kairin then copyright won't be of any concern. So consider this if you want your banner to grace the site as well. Quote:
