Hyped for this one. I doubt it will find its public (no action no ecchi no harem no school life = most anime watchers are not interested, + the synopsis can be misleading enough to actually make those who could have liked this title avoid it) but it's really nice to see that title getting an anime. To think that this title was almost cancelled before the third volume, so much happened since then.

The first presentation of sukasuka anime the 26th of MArch actually introduced another seiyuu (and no one noticed).
She's a first year grade schooler introduced under the name of okada hikari (岡田日花里). She appears at 16:20. She will voice Elc, so it means that this anime will probably cover 5 volumes. I say "probably" because the first time Elc spoke is IIRC in volume 3.

Episode 1
Oh man that was an incredibly good start, I think the pacing is nice considering Wilhelm arrived at the orphanage this episode. Kutori is the best, just the best. The VA work was on point for this one but dunno if is just me but Kutori's VA isn't like what I imagined for her character. As for the designs, when compared to the LN ones they are really close, I think the studio did a good job with them. On a side note, I don't think my heart is ready, some other people can understand why I feel like that. |

Oy oy, starting with that scene, those words and that song is completely against the rules, damn it. Is that an attempt to make cry the novel readers in the first 30sec or what~.
Damn, the insert songs are good. So they are using the Scarborough Fair song already, nice. Gulick the nice guy, I like that character <3. Panival o/ Hah, everything is written in French in the anime, interesting. There's problem with the spelling/grammar here and there tho . The interaction Naigrat/Wilhelm are nicely done, good job to the seiyuu here. It's the 4 chibitachi o/. Lol in the anime they're doing it twice? I don't mind at all x). Compared to the insert song, the ending feels almost disappointing. It's not really, but the direct comparison makes it look almost out of place. Ah, so the prologue of the novel is put after the ending, all right. Very nice start of the adaptation overall, 5/5 for me. you're doing great, Satelight. Spoiler for img from the author's twitter:

This is pretty interesting.
The setting gives an atmospheric feel and has a lot of potential for world building. We are introduced to Willem and Kutori pretty early in this episode. Kutori is a kind girl imo despite being a little strange. Technical wise, it has smooth animation but the music is what stands out the most so far. There's is some mild comedy but for most parts, I think the show maintains a melancholic feel for storytelling so far. Good start. Also, the kids are adorable!

Ohh my, that start makes me almost cry. As Zefyris says, it is unfair to LN readers!
That song... that was truly amazing, I love it. But again, thing that annoys me a bit is names translation... I must say, that I canīt wait for more! Also, I really like Kutori, and man, that first minutes of anime...geez it is so hard... |
