@B214 (post #126): Yeah, Ise got to be on the Volume 1 and Volume 2 covers. I worded it wrong. I'm just salty about how he has no cover all to himself. Vali got Volume 21. Asia took Volume 20 even though it's supposed to be Ise's Volume.

It really shouldn't matter if Issei is popular with women or not...This series still caters towards male for the most part. Women make up a small market. Maybe they do like Issei's face but Miyama decides to draw one of the girls because it is easier to draw. We will never know. Maybe Publisher decide who gets the cover.

It shouldn't matter, normally. But n0m@n or someone else showed a picture before where a DxD Volume is seen with other female demographic titles in a bookstore shelf in Japan. It's sold in women's sections in Japanese bookstores. If the female readers only make up a small percentage, then why is it sold in women's sections of bookstores in Japan?

It being a Shounen is why most of the covers have girls on them. But even that isn't any reason why Ise can't have a cover. So whether it's publisher or Miyama himself that isn't letting Ise appear on a cover by himself, either way they're crazy. Ise is the MC. It shouldn't matter if he isn't beautiful enough to appear on a cover. Vali also got a cover to himself.

Well there's a lot in DxD that can cater to females. Largely the handsome males in the series. Ishibumi did say in one of his afterwords I believe that DxD was selling surprisingly well among females.

I mean It isn't like Issei isn't popular. I mean in the Afterward for Volume 13 Ishibumi stated that Issei is 3rd most popular character. I mean a harem lead got that far is very surprising. So I am pretty sure that Issei is received well enough to warrent his own cover....I don't get why Issei hasn't gotten one yet. I mean things could have changed for popularity on characters.

It was in the Afterward in Volume 13. Issei back then was 3rd most popular. But he is after Rias and Akeno. Like I said. .Popularity could have changed and Issei could have dropped from popularity. But It does make me wonder why he still hasn't gotten one.

He should've at least gotten a solo cover when he was (still) the 3rd most popular character (if his popularity dropped for some reason since then). But if it hasn't dropped, then one really has to wonder why he hasn't gotten a cover.

It's not about popularity. It's probably just Miyama's own whims and bias that are to blame here.
