It's always fun to translate those scenes where in Japanese they're trying to be gender neutral to hide something. Fun as in 'headache' fun.
Because you do it too heavy-handed in English and people will wonder why you're avoiding pronouns.... 8) |

Fortunately, with "they" becoming a singular pronoun lately, it's always possible if you're willing to butcher grammar a little.

Ah, but I'll never understand prescriptivists. There's always the alternative of writing like a Hanar, though, if you want to be totally inoffensive to everybody's linguistic sensibilities. |

Did Ryukishi ever fix that funny Kyrie/Rosa sprite error that was in episode 5? For those who don't remember the link is here. I kind of think he probably didn't, but I'd like to know anyway.

I initially maintained the summary to be gender neutral since they never actually used a gender-specific pronoun. The thing is after a while it becomes so obvious who the person is, and that the person isn't the one being referred to during the sudden Golden Land switch, that I decided to switch to using he and she to at least avoid confusion.

Well what would the difference be? I don't think whether Rosa said it or Kyrie said it calls for an entirely different story. And the likelihood that they would say the exact same thing? The rest of the screenshots are generally the same with a few sprite differences. It just says funny error to me since it's not really expounded.

My fucking head hurts from trying to understand episode 8 from tons of different peoples points of view. My copy needs to arrive in the mail ASAP!
And Judoh I agree with you that that sprite mess up is an error and not intentional. Because there really is no reason for it to be intentional. |

Holy crap I just finished EP8. I'm still gathering my thoughts, but they're definitely positive for now. I'm not going to comment on the major things right now until I think them through some more.
But I can say all the "fuck yeah!" moments like Will, Lambda, the stuff at the Golden Land, Ange, etc., they're way too many to count, it was all really cool. Also all the little things he brought back or revisited like Endless Nine, Rosa Musou, there countless too. Ryukishi wasn't lying when he said he put everything he wanted into EP8. (inb4 "but it was not what I wanted"). Anyway the point of this post is that I really want to find a transcript of the scrolling text scenes (Battler and Beato's and the very final one). My Japanese is just medium level I only got through the game with the help of Rikaichan and stuff so I only understood like 30% of those scenes (since you can't extract the text from them, god the quizzes were a pain). I really want to read them properly, if not a transcript anyone got at least a summary or something? Please. Last edited by Arcanis; 2011-01-17 at 03:48. |
