It was a pretty good episode that seems to be focusing on each of the girls motivations. Well except for Ruby, have to wonder why Oobleck didn't ask her anything. Maybe form his point of view Ruby is already dedicated enough.

I quite like him as a character, though I expect he will have to actually participate in an upcoming battle soon enough, just to drive home that he isn't "just" an intellectual, but a Hunter as well. His comments on the Mammoth style Grim is quite foreboding, I assume they are waiting for some opening within the cities defenses for a chance to strike.

Now that I think about it.....barring the "coffee" (if that stuff is even coffee ) and his fast talking shenanigans, Oobleck actually seems pretty normal for a teacher. He also seems pretty dedicated to his work and knows what he's doing. I don't find anything to really dislike about him, he's okay I guess.

This is one of the rare episodes where the fight scenes actually ruined the quality. I don't really like how Team RWY spent a few seconds gritting their teeth at the camera before throwing 1 shot kill on either one or a group of Grimm. Yang punched a Grimm flat, Weiss 1 shotted a group of Grimm (by covering it up with a series of blind slashes), and Ruby's... is so pathetic.
Only Blake had an interesting showdown. We see more clearly how she uses her Semblances. We even kinda see how she guns down a dozen of mini Nevermores (until we get a name, that is that). The others are so... bland. As if the flat, one tone grey surface isn't bland enough already. Even Zwei chasing its own tail was more interesting than seeing RWY fighting there. I'd go as far as to say that the animation was the major drawback of the episode. With exception to before the flight, the Goliath and campfire part, everything else looked pretty poor. Again, that speech was supposed to inspire a sense of fear and dread towards the Grimm, which its script succeeded, but I was mostly groaning at the lousy background presentation. For an abandoned city, it looked more like an abandoned lego base with lots of missing blocks.

That was... interesting. Oobleck continues to live up to my expectations. Like all of Beacon's teachers, you should never judge him just based on surface impressions. I believe he'll get a chance to show us his fighting abilities before all is said and done, but he's not here to do everything for the girls, after all.

So I've finally watched RWBY up to Vol.2 Episode 5, and my reaction to was kinda mixed initially. I made the mistake of watching the actual series first from Vol.1, which left wondering what was so special about this series apart from being anime-style and having great fights, which was kinda dragged down in my view by the story and the sometimes cringe-worthy dialogue and animation.
Fortunately Vol.2 rectified a lot of the problems I had with it, including the improvements in pacing and animation, and the semblance of a much greater story, though I'm waiting for the entire series to finish before I watch the remaining episodes. On the other hand though, the 4 Trailers are actually more epic than the actual series itself, which is quite odd. Though the trailers did provide me the answer as to why this show was quite hyped, as they got me hyped for a show I've already seen

The speech was crummy.
I mean, the theme was great and deep, but Oobleck didn't really nail it home and say "Studying the wreckage shows us how to learn about their tactics and tendencies", but rather, he just says how a bunch of rubble helps them learn to fight them or something vague and 'unprofessional'. Still, I can't fault it too hard or the episode in general. The part with the large Grimms was chilling enough. More please! P.S. I bet Oobleck didn't as Ruby because he considers her too young to really question her motives. Or it might be some plot device thingy.... But I think the fact that Oobleck ask the others was a good thing, not something they should sweat over... It's something for them to consider, not to get depressed/jealous over.

Well roosterteeth had there panel today at NYCC and gave a sneak peek to the next ep of RWBY (which is action pack) leaving it at a cliff hanger with one of the members of RWBY. So everyone at the panel didn't see the whole ep, we got a tease.
Spoiler for ep 11:
We are informed that next week is going to another World of Remnant ep, so no new ep until the following week. We also got a surprise announcement, that we are going to get fully articulated RWBY (8-10 in) figures. They unveiled the figures at the panel and are being shown at their booth. Their price point are going to be in the $150 range, with Ruby costing a little more because of her weapons. Ruby is going to be released at round the time the RWBY blu-Ray/DVD hit. For a more better rundown of the panel just click the link and read the article just be aware that there are mentions about the next ep. Spoiler for might spoil:
