I'll be awake until maybe 17:00 PST tomorrow. That's a good 19 more hours of awake time to get back into a diurnal sleep cycle. Quote:
Luckily, I stopped it in about a minute because it looked like it would go one for too long. I did the same thing with all of the carmelldansen videos so I only faintly remember the song. |

SaiKano is an anime where every minute is like driving a knife into your flesh, tearing it apart, and pouring hot water over it. I took a break from anime for a week after I watched the first four episodes of this series. Ah, I see it differently. I rated SnS II 24 a 10/10, and it's by far one of the best anime episodes of last season. That's because I'm a very optimistic analyst. There's nothing wrong about the last episode because it doesn't damage the plot or character development in any way. In fact, it enriches them. Sure it might have felt incomplete, but that's not the fault of the final episode, but the fault of half of the series, which should be disregarded when analyzing one specific episode. People complain about it, but it could not be any better in my opinion. For the final episode to be better, then the whole season would have to be better.

Anyway, break time over (no I did not see the CLANNAD extra episode yet either), so back to site work. Maybe an English paper in between. |

Funny... I just watched episode 2 of Shana Second. Yes, I'm that much behind on it... Reason being is I've been focusing on catching up on other series. The first season of Shana was enough for me to know that she's soars above all others in just about everything, so I haven't been in a hurry to get through "Second" - saving it to savor it at another time. But, I was feeling the need for a Shana fix. Now, I don't want to stop. Shana is kickass cuteness personified. I love the way she looks, sounds, acts... love the story, the universe, the concepts, the other characters... the artwork and animation... everything! I get sidetracked by other types... quiet girls and tragic girls are big for me. But, Shana made me realize I like tsundere way more than I was formerly willing to admit. And when she's deredere, she's veryvery deredere. And now, after a long break from not seeing her, my Shana-luv torch is burning brightly. EDIT: Oh, yeah... love the Shana music, too. REALLY love it! |

Um... I'm kinda weird When I come across a series I really like, I strive to forget as much as possible after finishing it so that I can rewatch it as fresh as possible. So I don't remember the ending, and I'm glad that I don't I usually rewatch a fave at least three times in marathon runs in order to fully study it; Higurashi's first season I watched three times in two weeks alone With Haibane I only had .rmvb files and lost them (and 35 gigs of anime) when my PC died. I just found .avis of it, and so it's really like watching it for the first time (again) Quote:

The episode sure was full of action, but I wanted to feel more Shana-love at the end. Guess that's what follow-up seasons are for @Mushi: Quote:

I've got 20 already, but Fate and Shana aren't on it yet. Fate has enough moe behind her to replace Tsuruya, Fuko, Tomoyo, Haruhi, Chiaki or maybe Nagisa, or Mikuru. I just never got into Shana. She can take some of these on I suppose (and has won before). There are just some I'd rather have as my moe. I'm iffy on Kanon, because I've not seen it.
Spoiler for Weird system:
(I'll note that I find Rin attractive (like Asuka), but not in a moe way. Much more perverted thoughts then anything moe.)

@Everyone who is against me about SnS II's ending:
It did leave a big hole, but once again, that's not episode 24's fault. If the love triangle were to be resolved, then it would have ended too abruptly in my opinion, which would be bad character development. Episode 24 had to be consistent with the slow, romantic pace of the second season. Yes, I said it. The only way for episode 24 to end well romance-wise was to not solve the romance conflict. What caused that big hole? It wasn't episode 24, but the presentation of the plot leading to it. For a great example about how it's not episode 24's fault, many people say that episode 24 was rushed, yet they also claim that it didn't solve anything. This is now clearly a problem about the pacing of the entire series and not about episode 24. @SaiKano and Haibane Renmei: Both of them are on my top ten, yet I cannot watch them again. It would be like watching Grave of the Fireflies after marathoning Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and 5 Centimeters per Second. And also, I recommend it to anyone who like anime that leaves an impact on you (like Haibane Renmei). Oh, and if anyone cares, here my top ten list! #1: SaiKano #2: Kimi ga Nozomu Eien #3: Cardcaptor Sakura #4: The Place Promised in Our Early Days #5: Bokurano --- #6: Elfen Lied #7: Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal #8: 5 Centimeters per Second --- #9: Air #10: Haibane Renmei

hmm... I haven't really thought of trying an attempt at a Top 10, just my "Beyond the Unbreakable barrier" titles. Let's see... in no particular order: Elfen Lied Kanon Air ----- (<-- Unbreakable Barrier) Chobits Rozen Maiden (all) Higurashi (all) Last Exile Serial Experiments Lain Fate/Stay Night ... Crap. Just trying to fit the last one in my brain broke This doesn't even count the OVA/movies Contenders: Death Note, Rumbling Hearts, True Tears, Haibane, Azumanga, Clannad, Baccano!, Ergo Proxy, Gilgamesh... Shoot, I'd better quit while I'm (too far) ahead LOL Logic has no place on this list LMAO @Psieye: Thanks much for the offer but it's permanently lodged in my brain LOL (minute later)... um, okay it might come in handy :P

Tell me if the link breaks. I could have seen a Yuji in GAR mode with his fat sword yelling, "SHHAAANNAAAAAA!!! SUKI DAA!!!!!!!", though. Amen. Kagami isn't very great though. Kyou's a bit better. My attempt: Ah, just click on my sig and see the 9's and 10's and take out any three you want. Actually two because I'm discounting Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai on the basis that it's a sequel. |

@Demi
From what I gather from the previous moe threads, pure moeblobs aren't that popular. That is, Mikuru is basically Miyuki, and considering Konata has loli-lookalike and otaku traits, Konata > Miyuki. Thus Konata > Mikuru. And besides, Haruhi-ism already has Haruhi and Yuki, while LS right now only has Kagami, thus Konata would have better chance in the future than Mikuru. And this is hindsight talking, but it looks like I was right, wasn't I? Tactical voting acheived. @ithekro I guess you've missed when I said Kugimiya tsunderekko loli (look alike in this case) < every other loli. Just like a certain other vocal poster (not necessarily in this thread. hint: he loves mecha shows) generally dislikes Hirano Aya's voice, I too go bokers whenever I hear Kugimiya's tsunderekko. I dunno, something irritates me from it when she goes from tsun to dere or vice versa. That's not to say I dislike all of Kugimiya's roles. Mikan of Rental Magica, for example, only has one half of the regular Kugimiya tsunderekko, so it isn't too bad. And of course, I loved both of Kugimiya's roles in Potemayo, most especially Nene who like Hinagiku would trump the weaker osana-najimis in my moe meter. And I don't know why lol Of course, sufficient osana-najimi power pretty much trumps everything else, so you'd see me vote Ringo over much of the competition if ever she was here. It's just too bad Nagi's osana-najimi power is so little (we see her with Wataru, like what, 20 minutes tops the entire 52 episode season?) that it isn't enough to trump my bias against her. And Chiaki is tensai shoujo, which is always a plus in my book. Didn't even have to think about this particular matchup. @Overfunk Slice of life (aka. shows thats more or less character driven) bores me in general, unless they have some hint of romance (Someday's Dreamers for example). After the awesomeness in art and setting of the manga of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, every other 'straight' slice-of-life pales in comparison. Probably the only one that caught my eye would be Haibane Renmei for its setting, and Lucky Star for its otaku references and Kagami's reactions to it (and no, I was already hooked on LS before I even knew Konata was the love child of an osana-najimi couple XD) BTW, not directed really at you but people in general... Haibane Renmei is as depressing as SaiKano? What? I remember I cried, but not because I was sad or depressed or anything. Then again, I thought SaiKano's end was rather bright compared to the rest of the series... @changes in Aquamarine 4 Okay, now that looks much better. Me despite being against Saber, that looks more in line with my predictions. @new rankings Didn't I say that Shana was the character to beat in this tourney? It was only because she faced two very difficult matchups early on while the rest had none that basically screwed up her tiebreakers early in the game. XD @undefeated I still firmly believe that the champion would be undefeated. The lack of anti-votes in the form of revenge, hate, tactical, or whatnot basically unables a weaker character to win against the strongest character of a particular fanbase. So unlike sports leagues, 'upsets' concerning a character in the upper echelons of this moe contest would be unheard of, once we determine the size of a group relative to another. Thus if character A beats character B, and character B beats character C, then character C would have next to no chance to beat A in an upcoming match-up. And right now its the Kyo-ani (with most probably Yuki being the leader) and Shana. So once we determine the winner of this match-up, then we can safely assume that the winner would mop the rest of the competition unhindered and unbeaten. Of course there can be a third group to go with this, but the rest of the undefeated hasn't shown impressive numbers or wins in a tough matchup. So while I'm sure they can hold their own against the lesser of the Kyo-anis, I'm still doubtful at the strength of Saber or Fate against the likes of Yuki or Shana. (Maria on the otherhand, is only here because of weak match-ups so far. It is of no question that Hayate group is lead by either Hinagiku and Nagi, and both are already beaten. Thus, if Shana > Hinagiku, Mikuru > Nagi, then either camp will hand Maria a loss sooner or later) This is all presuming that voting habits won't change (ie. hate/revenge voting becoming more common) or the voting body doesn't change dramatically (ie. dramatic influx of a group with different moe tendencies ex. the Japanese starts voting). So far though, evidence has shown little to no change in either of them. Of course, all these predictions reserves the right to ignore Aquamarine 3's results, as I don't know if any matches got turned around with the new rule. (As an aside, while I do agree with the rule, I don't agree with how it was handled. The rule should've been effective the next match, rather than discounting votes without prior warning for that current match.) @qtipbrit About time for another round of profile pic voting, don't you think? Btw, both Rin pics looks awesome. First one is what you'd see Rin normally as, while the other is so cute, but I don't remember ever seeing that particular face.
