[Manga] How strong are the 4 Sounds?

I haven't seen much of them, but they seem to be weaker than the stronger jounins (Kakashi, Gai). For example, they didn't try to ambush Kakashi despite having the element of surprise and a 4v1 advantage. Of course, I'm basing this upon very little evidence...obviously they are just toying around with Sasuke. What do you guys think?

They are chuunin level strength on their own.... but not too much. Their specialty is sealing, on which level they are VERY strong.

true.. but that would theoretically only measure their minimum strength. What if there had been 3-4 regular jounins? We won't know their limits

They seem to be pretty confident of their strength as well..talking about just destroying the village by themselves already.

When you look at their teamwork..... they stinks

They managed to win two worned jounins~~~ A level difference is a lot in Naruto...

Overall all, stronger then normal chuunins (without using the cursed seals), on par with normal jounins (with cursed seals level 2)

I won't say they 'owned' them. They were worn out after outnumbering them including using their Curse Seal Level 2... sure it came from usign the seal. But they were forced to use it. It may be because of time or whatever. Also they didn't get beat by just 1 person, the only genin that won their fight on their own was Neji. The rest had help.

And about their strength, I'd agree and say Chuunin at max. Their strength probably comes in working together as shown with thier shield jutu used that no one can break through.

There was a thread going on that dealt with the strength of the Sound 4. It's a [Manga] thread though which is not surprising considering the fact that we haven't seen anything of the Sound 4 in the Anime yet, other than they being Sealing specialists (or something like that). Here is the link and this is my opinion of the strength of the Sound 4 (Manga spoilers).

Sad thing about threads like this is that even though the posters have good intent. They will spoil nontheless.

The thread maker who is in his right in posting this question and is obviously not a mangareader can't be blamed at all.

But spoilertags will be forgotten, people will spoil even if nothing is asked.

Well, what do you expect if there is little that is known about the Sound 4 in the Anime up till now? Either this question came a week to early or was directed at the manga readers. ^_^

Funny thing is.. the thread is asking How Strong are the four sound nins... and only way to answer that is if you read the manga... So logically, wheover comes in here should expect to read "spoilers" if they only watch anime up to ep 108. Without it, they're without a doubt Genin level.

These are the results of the 5 (yes, 5) of the sound nins in CSL2 form fighting against Shikarmu's team. (They're powers are just my opinions)

Neji > or = 1 weak-medium one
Shikamaru < or = 1 medium power one
Choji = (kamakazi) 1 medium-strong power one
Kiba < 1 medium-strong power one

Spoiler for The last sound nin was a jaw dropping fight. Sure you want to find out?:

Rock Lee + Gaara > The strongest one

All four of them with Curse Seal Level 2 were just barely able to beat two very tired Jounins. They aren't even close to Jounin level. The reason they are Orochimaru's personal guard is that they are all highly specialized in sealing/shielding jutsus, like the impenetrable shield they put up around Oro & Sarutobi.

I agree with this. Although the Sound 4 do not have the strength of a jounin I thought it was strange that Sasuke was as strong as Naruto who's chakra made Zabuza and Kakashi think it was their respective opponent only to realize this chakra was was too stong to be either of them. Perhaps Naruto was realeasing more chakra against Haku than he was against Sasuke, since he absolutely had killer intent, thinking Sasuke was dead. Or maybe Sasuke CSLV2 is alot farther above the Sound 4 since he was already nominated their leader. His curse seal is equal to Kimimaro's meaning they are stronger than the sound 4. He may get a level increase of 15x to 20x normal strength compared to the Sound 4's 10x. this would explain why even Kabuto was startled by his increase in chakra although he would have known he was going to be graned level 2 power. The sound 4 on the other hand are defintely below avaerage jounin in terms of strength to have to gang up on 2 worn out jounin and actually be tired from the victory.

I'm pretty sure that Naruto released the most Kyuubi energy in his fight with Sasuke then any other time. Why? When he released Kyuubi energy against Haku, you could see a head form from his chakra. When he fought Sasuke, his chakra formed Kyuubi's whole body. Maybe it had nothing to do with it, but I think that it means something at least. And Naruto seemed stronger when he fought Sasuke. (A hole in his body healing in like 5 seconds)

Well this is how I myself view the situation of the Sound Nin and their power

The way I see it, they are all equal to high level Chunins, aside from the 5th Sound Nin, Kimimaro, who's power is probably that of a low-medium level Jounin.

The four of them using the Curse Seal Lvl 2 were able to defeat 2 tired out Leaf Jounin almost killing them. This however, weakened them as well, so when Shikamaru's team catches up to them and does battle with them one on one, they aren't at full strength themselves, while Neji, Chouji, Kiba, Shikamaru, and Naruto are at their best. The battles conclude as follows.

Spoiler for Massive spoilers (battles and conclusions):

Chouji defeats Jiroubou - Chouji very nearly kills himself in so doing this, kind of a Kamikaze attack
Neji defeats Kidoumaru - Neji is severly wounded and nearly dies
Kiba loses to Sakon/Ukon - Not very fair, one on two (Akamaru can't count), he is rescued
Kankuro defeats Sakon/Ukon - Puppet Master slaughters the brothers, and saves Kiba
Shikamaru loses to Tayuya - Well, he was losing....kinda
Temari defeats Tayuya - She comes in, and justs blows Tayuya away (literally)
Naruto loses to Kimimaro - He gets stomped, saved by Rock Lee
Rock Lee loses to Kimimaro - He does much better than Naruto, but gets beat too, saved by Gaara
Gaara defeats Kimimaro - He holds his own against Kimimaro, basically wins.......he lives, Kimimaro doesn't
