there are reasons, from nearing the end of the year vacation to the last 2 episodes need special efforts from the studio? in general a studio without too much money usually have a recap somewhere for a 12 episodes anime to fill out a 13 episodes season. that is the norm now. girls und panzer I remember had 2 recaps for 1 season.

There is no notion of "vacation" for the industry, especially Christmas isn't considered as a legal day off in Japan. That said, it is very likely they scheduled a recap for the sake of the last 2 episodes.
If it was a general production issue, the recap should have been done in the middle of the cour, like before episode 6. On that note, it is best not to expect some extremely amazing stuff. One extra week is hardly enough to pull an outlandish result in term of animation.

Hata provided a link, with a very explicit description.
"ゴブリンスレイヤー達の今までの活躍を牛飼娘の目線で追う特別編をお送りします。" (Proceeding with a special recollection of Goblin slayer party's activities until now through Cow Girl perspective). The official website even lists Episode 11 is scheduled on 22th december and Episode 12 on 29th December.

Yeah, next episode is a recap. This is going to hit the unaware viewers hard.
Usually recaps are not done before the finale because it ruins the mood. I wonder why did the animators do that.

i still can't believe there were people who thought the farm arc wasn't going to happen.
as for this ep, it was a nice little hiatus. they mixed some stuff in from future chapters to potentially do a season 2 or an OAV on.

Watched episode 10:
Nice that they showed a little more of Suzumiya Haruhi... err.. I mean hero-sama! Adventurer's just relaxing at the bar. Everyone is so nice. Only disturbing thing this episode are the numerous footprints that GS found in the farm. I got the shivers seeing that.

Well that was anticlimactic that the demon lord is dead and our hero didn't get involve in one way, unless is a fake demon lord and the real one is a goblin in the end.
and for the future of GS, he could always try and find a successor to train. |

No role, big impact. The ogre only got his army of goblins because of the Demon Lord's general. I'm sure various other events involving goblins have had/will have some sort of involvement of various Demon Lords/Dark Gods.
