Shit I guess I'm late for the party, anyways I think that a Geass without Lelouch as the protagonist just wouldn't feel the same. In my opinion Lelouch and CC kept the show going forward.
I think that if they replace Lelouch and bring a new protagonist he would never be able surpass awesomeness that is Lelouch. Regardless of what they are thinking I will still watch the new installment and I hope it doesn't ruin the Geass franchise. |

I wouldn't go so far as to say that a new protagonist could never replace Lelouch, I just think that it wouldn't be worth the risk from a marketing standpoint.
What was the point of celebrating his birthday is he's not in the new project somehow? Why build up his image through so many promo posters, magazine images, etc.? As someone here already pointed out, anime is a business and like any business Sunrise is going to gravitate to what is profitable and marketable no matter what any fans think. |

We've been through 2 seasons with a main character who's very appealing and basically made Code Geass so exciting together with C.C. Why would people wanna give up on such a brilliant character and go with a new character that even might be the downfall of the new season? You never know what personality it might has or even it's backstory. You as watcher want to be convinced of the story and enjoy the protagonist... so why drop the succesformula and go along with a risque?

Now if you put in Ohgi and Villetta, I'd be in total agreement. Parasites. |

Well, considering their parts in the whole betrayal and the whole Geass thing (Villetta was potentially deceptive in her info on Geass, given her role in keeping watch over Lelouch during the time skip between season 1 and R2, and Ohgi bought into her advice a little too easily and generally acted hypocritical), and the fact that they were at the center of the wedding, with Ohgi becoming Japanese PM in spite of his incompetence, yes. It could be said that their appearance pushed the rest of the Black Knights into siding with Schneizel and selling out Lelouch, which pushed him over the Despair Event Horizon, leading to the Zero Requiem. And yet they get arguably the happiest ending. Does. Not. Compute.

You know I've noticed that about this forum.
To paraphrase Darth Vader; "The mods here are not as forgiving as I am." @azul120: You do make some valid points IMHO, but I like to think of them as being victims of circumstances beyond their control. Who knows, maybe this new series will explore how they feel bad about what happened, maybe even remorseful. Perhaps we'll learn more about what has happened after the ZR...then again maybe not. Let's be honest here though... I don't think any of the U.C. spin-off series came close to matching the original with characters like Amuro Ray and Char taking center stage. I mean, the best sequel I liked out of the series was the one where they did take center stage again in Char's Counterattack! Same with the alternative time-lines, the original heroes were always better for the most part in any sequel

I agree, Char and Amuro were good both as enemies and allies (Zeta Gundam) and are my favorite Gundam characters. |

Went through the thread. I saw people talking about the website being updated but not about the page for this.
http://geass.jp/new_project/index.html Anyone want to give translating that a try? I ran it through google translations just to see but we are all aware how horrible that always turns out. I think I was able to make out that we will get more information in the next NewType, which should be coming out soon. But google translation also said Quote:
So yeah, anyone got an actual translation so we can see what is being said? Sorry if I am a blind idiot and this was discussed already. edit: I said "NewsType" and "God Geass"... I think I am a little too excited for my own good... |
