I think at a certain point I just want a book series to end for the sake of the story (thats how my feelings were with Mushishi, Inuyasha, and The Dark Tower books). Spice and Wolf has gotten to that point for me where I wouldn't mind it ending. I've seen plenty of stories go unfinished or drag on far too long(not saying thats what would happen with Spice and Wolf).
I guess it doesn't matter that much too me in the long wrong as long as the quality is still good and the ending is done well.

Random lurker here just speaking up.
At least dont let the books go on endlessly with no real purpose like Znt is *no meaning to change the subject mind you* If it ends let it, am in it all for the Horo love. So if shes happy then let the story end if she isnt, keep on writing till she is *scary face* |

lol.
Think about it this way though...How long have the Guin Saga books been going on? Chances are minimal of S&W equating to this, however...bear it in mind . Also, the infamous Detective Conan. There are also more recent series such as One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach, which (while not novels) show how stories can be stretched on for years, and remain of utmost interest. (namely One Piece) So I don't mind the books continuing, but I don't want it to be for the sake of them continuing. I want it to be for the sake of the many many excellent stories which still have yet to be told regarding the pair.

Same here.... no "never-ending story" bullshit. Tell the adventures that need to be told, make progress of some kind in each volume and close it up properly (be it bittersweet or whatever).

Actually, throwing my two cents in, I really got into the American show Avatar:the last airbender (and later anime for the same reason) since it was the first show I had ever seen that was going to have a clear beginning, middle, and end. The idea fascinated me so much and I thought it made the story so much better.
So please, give us an ending someday, and make it a good one! |

With 12 volumes I think its too early to talk about the endless story. I think the should end up at volume 14-15 instead (dont think it is possible to go beyond vol 15 without forcing things). I really hope its not on vol 13 though.

And I agree about One piece still being interesting. Naruto and Bleach not so much - they are still very popular series, but differently from OP the progression looks forced and not natural. I dont know how Oda does this that even chapter 549 is as exciting as the first. But he is rather an exception than the rule. As a rule the story become less and less interesting with time... |

Yeah I'm always a bit torn on this kind of thing. Obviously don't want the story going so far it hurts the overall quality. Yet always want to see more and when it's done that's it. Though I suppose there is always discusssions, OVAs, fanfictions, etc so it's not really the end of the line. Long as the story ends well I'm fine with it.
Anyways worry about the ending when it has officially ended.

oh, you mean because of "Kraft Foods"?
but yea, Kraft is a pretty common spelling, especially since Spice and Wolf seems to be set in (a fictional) Germany oO At least in the Anime you can see german texts a few times (letters and bills). Looks completely normal to me and it's a common family name (very rare first name, but exists). Anyway, he's called Lawrence most of the time after all ^^ |
