The Nanoha franchise hasn't really gone anywhere in a while, and won't until the next animated work. Which will probably be never since Tsuzuki cares more about Dog Days now. Plus Madoka in general appeals to a far greater fan base than the Nanoha one. Most don't even associate it with MSh. Though I must admit as far as grabbing me, DD's 1st episode did a much better job of it then S1, A's, and especially StrikerS did. Also DAT voice cast. |

Tell me, what me eyes see. Fate: So, are you really will go on a date? Teana: No. Teana: I`m not his girlfriend. Farte: Then. if you was his girlfriend then you`d go? Teana: Well, if I was his girlfriend, then I`d go... fate: As I thought, you wanted, that earlier confession was real. Teana: That`s right, I want to hear real confession first. Fate: So, you want from Vice-kun to realize that? Teana: That`s right, I want this man to be serious. Teana: I`ll wait as long as it needed. Teana: I`ll truly will wait numerous years if it needed. Fate: So~ you really like Vice-kun, aren`t you? Teana: ...No, of course not. Tna sure a tsundere, aren`t she? |

It's terrific fun, and thank god they've bucked the worst of the tropic pitfalls associated with summoning a kid to save the world. But the whole thing, premise and all is just so. . . silly!

Overall it's an awesome show. Especially queen cat tits, and as far as the dogs go, droopy ears. Especially that "Good shots" moment.
And Yeah, they did the whole "Summoning a random hero" stick RIGHT. By which I mean an a way that's not stupidly cliched and just copied past shows doing it. I especially laughed at the end of ep.2 when Gundam Bishounen and Puppy Caro learned they're screwed. It's kinda like Nanoha, only it doesn't try to force a DEERP plot anywhere into the story, just mindless fun to where it's basically Sasuke (or Ninja warrior, whatever) the anime. I do lol when they show the backgounds as well. mainly because half the time it's just the StrikerS ones with the random planets replaced with floating rocks. ...Also Koyasu and Emperor Wakamoto. You can't get more epic than that. |

I'm not a fan of fanservice, really. And I do expect the show to go in an interesting direction now that they've finished the prologue.
But seriously, the absurdity factor makes a bloody acrobatic pirouette off the handle from minute one.

From what I've seen of Dog Days so far, I can only expect it to fail...
Maybe three episodes (1 raw) wasn't enough to reach a conclusive decision, but I'm not seeing where you see the charm. And Tsuzuki only cares about money - I'd be quite shocked, baffled, and amazed if it ever becomes a cash cow even remotely close to what Nanoha is. tl;dr - Watching Dog Days was like watching a train wreck from my perspective.

While I understand the Nanoha franchise has stagnated to some degree, I don't think we should turn to Dog Days to salvation. Comparing it to A's is blasphemy. All that's done is cast further doubt to me about Tsuzuki's writing skills.
Nanoha IS modern magical girl; so it's here to stay as it has in the last 7 years. This is gonna be Tsuzuki's $$$ cow. Anyhow, funny Caro age comparison pics.

And I love it. Too much tsun spoils the dere Quote:
Besides, substance-wise DD is practically Vivid, only with less yuri (and more furry). Hayate-sama, do the Basic Instinct scene!!!

People shouldn't expect Dog Days to be the next Nanoha. It's not like they're trying to replace Nanoha with Dog Days either. Tsuzuki and Seven Arcs are allowed to produce other works.
Dog Days is harmless. It's simple, straight forward, and takes itself lightly. For example, war is a glorified friendly sport rather than a gritty battle to the death. It aims to entertain and so far hasn't gone beyond that, and that's perfectly fine. I like the voice cast and the character designs are nice doujin fodder so there's not much keeping me away. Granted I admit there's not much to hook people either. Anyways, back on topic:
