Does anyone know what will be on the SSS Special Edition DVD that's coming out in July?

I've been waiting a really long time for this freakin' movie and I want to pre-order it. But I can't really find information on what will be with the Special Edition.

Thanks!

Hoo-ah!

Ok I know this has nothing to do with S.S.S but I figured your all fans of the GitS:SAC series so I thought I'd ask here:
Do any of you guys know why the first SAC series was more polished then the 2nd Gig as far as character design goes?? I loved both seasons but watching the 2nd gig was very hard to watch because the characters looked so different from each episode and from the 1st season (epecially the Major). IMHO, I thought she looked better in the 1st gig. Was this due to multiple character designers??

Found this:

Anchor Bay has sent over the first details on Bandai’s forthcoming DVD release of Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. - Solid State Society. The film will be released on DVD on 7/3 in two versions. There will be a Standard Edition (SRP $19.98) that includes the film in anamorphic widescreen video with both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio (English and Japanese with English subtitles), as well as the Uchikoma Days featurette, interviews with the English production team, a storyboard gallery and the trailer. There will also be a 3-disc Limited Edition (packaged in a “steel book” case) that includes everything on the standard edition along with 3 more featurettes (World Work File, Anime+Car Design: Designing the Future Car and Making of Tachikoma Robot), an interview with Mitsuhisa Ishikawa (of Production I.G) and the film’s soundtrack on CD.

Pre-ordering the Special Edition DVD, then. That sounds worth the few extra bucks at AnimeCastle.

I was about to cry when you said that. I have an International Economics exam on Friday and my TV would be packed away by then for the journey home.

I just checked Sci-Fi's listings. It's not on May 11th (Friday), it's on June 11th.

Yay! I'll be home then! ^_^

Per the Sci-Fi Website:

Date: 6/11/2007
Time: 11:00 p.m.
Program: Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society

LOL Crushed my own hopes, too.

I still haven't seen it. Pre-ordered the Special Edition DVD today at AnimeCastle. I'll have to call them and have the Ship-To Address changed once I find out what my summer room assignment will be.

Wow Sci Fi channel is showing something that doesn't suck!

I'm surprised they're showing GiTS and not Boa Vs. Komodo Vs. Sasquatch 3.

Oh, I know. >_>

Now that I'm back home and have the Sci-Fi channel I was channel surfing and saw they were showing one of their original movies where two scientists get turned into mutant mosquitos.

That is absolutely fabulous.

All I need now is my freakin' summer room assignment so that I can call up AnimeCastle and have them change the Ship To Address on my pre-order.

Until then, I'm holding that term up since the russian people at my university came to the same consensus about the term (they even said that 'watch in awe' was appropriate).
Okay, I'm about six months too late in responding to this, but since the thread has been revived anyway, I figure I'd chime in on that and say, as a native Russian speaker, that the phrase she sings there is most certainly not naliubujtes'. It doesn't fit at all, phonetically. Whoever came up with that idea for a subtitle didn't listen closely. As for what it really is, I don't know. It's not Russian, that's for sure. Some people have put forth "mara du vortes", which at least matches the syllables as well as sounding Latin, like the Aeria Gloris part that most likely comes after. (Aeria Gloris might be speculation, but I think it's quite clear from the words)

About the two lines in "date of rebirth", I'm not sure what they are either. The end of it sounds like "otkroi sebia i nebival", which means "discover yourself and didn't exist", but wouldn't make sense grammatically.

Also, she's not singing "it's a revolution", but quite clearly "it's a real illusion".

Edit: found booklet lyrics at this blog.

So, in case anyone ever cares , she sings:
Один
Глоток
Открыл
Поток сомнений
Знаю ли прав тот ли кто не лгал
Кто мудрец
А кто себя им выдавал
Для чего?
It's a real illusion

which means:
one
swallow
opened
a stream of doubt
do I know? is the one who didn't lie right?
who is the wise man
and who delivered himself to them
what for?
It's a real illusion

There are more text in the full version of "Player"

"Player"

(Quietly swimming in the stardust
The celestial searchlights
Shattering my wings
The steel blade of a knife)

(How many times has died in an attack
And was once again reborn
My imperishable soul)

<<

( My dream, my dream
and everything behind (apart) it
I'm giving up bravely for the card of the world )
[sigh, may be someone can translate it better than me]

Player…player…player…

( Only sliding of the black mantle
reflection of a trouble
i couldn't left unnoticed)

<<

(I play again without the rules
And call upon myself
The fire, the fire)

(And that is all I know
I do not seek another role)

(Today I am just a player
I do not regret anything)

(Quietly swimming in the stardust
The celestial searchlights)

Just remember, folks: 11 days to GitS: SSS is on the Sci-Fi Channel!

Sci-Fi Channel
Monday, June 11th, 2007
11:00 p.m. EDT
Ani-Monday Presents: Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society

I don't know. I have been dying to see this, but I've had my doubts lately about watching it with a dub. I've gone completely sub since 2000. Haven't watched any dub since then. Sci-Fi usually shows dubs, right? I might pass on this and just tough it out to July 3rd when the DVD comes out and gets shipped to my dorm at PSU. >_>

OMG! OMG! OMG! My copy of SSS finally got shipped! FINALLY!

It my was my own dumb mistake that it got "Backordered" and I have had to wait, but... FINALLY! Tomorrow *crosses fingers* I should have a GitS:SAC 3 SSS Special Edition DVD in my mailbox. ^_^ Should've just called them to have them change the Ship To address instead of pre-ordering it again and canceling the original pre-order... But! That doesn't matter anymore.

I'm sooooooooooooooo psyched!

God bless Animecastle.com and UPS.

I should've received the DVD LAST Thursday and I've been furious ever since I saw my shipping status go to "Backordered- Not Yet Shipped." Has anyone else received the DVD yet? Is it good? ^_^

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: My problems with receiving my mail continue here at Penn State, but after nearly jumping across the counter and strangling a Commons Desk staffer, I finally have received a package I've been expecting... AND IT'S SOLID STATE SOCIETY!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!OMG! OMG!

If only I didn't have to get this stupid work done! >_< I wanna watch it right now! GRRRRRRRRR!

*furiously does his work and runs important errands*
