Third Bleach Movie - Fade to Black "Calling out Your Name"

Is it just me or were there new abilities shown?

Spoiler for Movie:

Byakuya's bankai teleportation and Urahara's laser spam... I don't remember them shown before at least.

Also, how did Urahara get back to SS? Seems to be too big of a plothole there...

Best part of the movie though IMO: Mayuri keeps a backup brain.

i wanted to stab that brat about 100 times because of her obsessed behavior... and her voice, she's cute and all but damn it her personality is a huge turn off.

God this movie was horrible. They should have used the "Memories of Nobody" subtitle for this, since that's all it was for an entire hour.

Once again, Ichigo's powers were poorly utilized. Hollow mask was wasted, as was bankai (isn't it supposed to grant super speed? why was Ichigo hoofing it on foot? ). In fact, Ichigo looked like a chump throughout the whole film.

What the heck was up with Rukia's BIG eyes? Those things looked like they were ready to jump out of their sockets Sadly, I was hoping she was going to have a bigger role instead of just playing 'captive' again.

The only good scenes in this film were Uruhara showing off Benihime and Kenpachi going ballistic. Other than that, total waste. Stick to the TV series if you need your fix, especially since 10% of the film is flashbacks anyway

Hmm well just finished the movie.

I have to say it was pretty good. Ichigo wasn't such a noob with his bankai this time around.

That must have been the most I've heard the name Rukia. So annoying now lol.

Pretty nice to see everyones shikai/bankai.

Oh and got to love Rukia's alien eyes.

Uh, he did use it. On the snake when he first got to SS. Then he got surrounded by Hisagi's men.

I just dled it and skipped through it randomly. Will watch it tonight, but animation is superb and I think it really makes up all the movie.

I didnt find the movie that bad...even though there were many parts leaving you "wait....wth???"....
The animation was very awesome tho.

My point was not that he didn't use the mask on Hisagi (why would he use it on someone he considers an ally, that's totally out of character). It's that he summoned it on the very first enemy he encountered in the film before even knowing what he was up against.

In the manga, Ichigo only called out the mask if he felt the odds were against him, even in bankai state. But here he just summons it carelessly. Of course, this is because the director knew fans wanted to see it and there was no other way to squeeze it into the film since everyone else that Ichigo fought were allies.

I would have preferred they not have him summon the mask at all and use bankai more effectively, making us remember why it was cool in the first place. Urahara, Byakuya, and the other captains can do it, why not the main character?

Well seeing how that thing had destroyed half of SS... I wouldn't call it carelesly.

And about speed... it isn't animators fault. Look at the manga, Kubo completly forgot that Ichigo can run fast.

Or everyone simply had improved and his speed is equels to 0 now.

Yeh animation is great but they still allowed several slips.
I haven't watched movie properly yet, but they definetly did 2 animation mistakes on Soi Fon.

One I pointed before with her clothing around neck and another is that in one moment she has gloves, then she misses them and seconds later she has them back 0_o

I never really paid attention to Soi Fon...dont really like her for some reason. But in near all anime movies I have seen there are animation mistakes or "faulty parts".

Finished the movie and I partly take back my words about animation. The DDR wasn't bad either.

What I liked:
1) Ichigo vs Renji small fight - it was dynamic and the music did really fit and maybe it was best animted though Kon's squeels pissed me off.
2) Renji using bankai and Ichigo doing the same shouting Tensa Zangestu and that explosion was somewhat Guren Lagann thing
3) Nice colour gamma, all those fading pink,blue, I like them a lot.

What I didn't like:
1) Major plotholes - there were too many of them, I'd rather even say inconsistences like hollow mask, Urahara's haori etc.
2) Music didn't fit at most moments,really, wasting my fav track B_13a on that Soifon saving/blushing moment.
3) All captain and VC get the same treatment every movie,like, shine for 2 minutes and of course Kenpachi rampage which irks me all the time I see it.

I understand that movie was focused on IchiRuki bond, but still it felt disjointed. I'm not the fan of the pairing, but the film could have been handled much better.
I can't understand people who "ZOMG!!111 Perwect movie! IchiRuki ftw!!!" Even you know it could have been better. And those who say the "hug" was something great, no , it wasn't - too fast.
Still, I enjoyed it but overall I expected more.
