Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror [as][2023]

Manga 'Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror' is getting an anime adaptation.

Plot Summary
Quote:
Kurôzu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but by a pattern: uzumaki, the spiral, the hypnotic secret shape of the world. It manifests itself in small ways: seashells, ferns, whirlpools in water, whirlwinds in air. And in large ways: the spiral marks on people's bodies, the insane obsessions of Shuichi's father, the voice from the cochlea in your inner ear. As the madness spreads, the inhabitants of Kurôzu-cho are pulled ever deeper, as if into a whirlpool from which there is no return...

I'm more on the appreciate than love camp with Itou, but I'm certainly not complaining. Still, there are so many great manga of more recent vintage crying out to be adapted that it always surprises me to see these old chestnuts get anime.

Hoping it's better than the last Junji Ito anime (although I have loved some episodes).

4 episodes, ugh. Nagahama directing is nice, but that's a major blow.

I think this could work at 4 episodes... Nagahama at the helm gives me hope!

Oh, and that music... chills!

With Nagahama as the director and I.G as the studio, it can only be better than Junji Ito collection.

Delayed with the years, of course. I've been waiting for this for more than a year now.
Starts to feel like Avatar... It's coming soon, just not this decade.

Teaser trailer. That actually dimmed my hype, and made it more bearable.

Uzumaki Anime Gets Another Delay

The Twitter account for the anime of Junji Ito's Uzumaki horror manga announced on Monday that the series has been delayed again beause the staff needs more time "in order to replicate the quality of the intricate designs and detailed line work" of the manga. The staff added that it does not want to compromise the show's quality and deliver a "mediocre final product."

I've seen the other adaptations of his work(never read the mangas). They are terribly animated. This one looks INFINITELY better than the other ones. Small stylistic choices like leaving it in black and white and just the general attention to detail is going to make this a much better experience of Ito's works into motion, which is great for people like me who are never read the source material.
