Elfen Lied

- man the first ep blows you away , although its only 13 eps , its the best anime of 2004 BY FAR!! , watch it if you dont mind a bit of nudity + LOTS! of blood ,
i'd says its best not to read + or see anything about just go watch + enjoy it

Monster is definitly mature, It's a very complex story about a boy psychopat/genius and the doctor who regrets ever saving his life when he was young. Very deep story and characters.

So is Melody of oblivion, which is mind bulging and out of this world. Don't let the childish animation fool you. This one is a thinker. Monsters have taken over the world decades ago. Bocca is a Meros Warrior, Meros warriors fight monsters. Bocca goes on a journey to find the truth and follows his own beliefs.

hey elfen lied sounds awsome, but i cant find it, or the torrents i do find are usually dead...can u tell me where i can get it?

I think this anime is licensed. So you'll need to buy it. But it's worth the price.

You should try Hellsing. A vampire hunting other vampires. But this show is licensed too.

Go Get Crest of The Stars Series

its total 36 eps, its liced so you can buy em, they are pretty cheap. One Hell of show.

Serious shows, serious, mature themes. Many involve gratuitous amounts of blood and mind-numbing themes.

A couple other good anime that aren't aimed at kids

1. Kino no Tabi : a traveler visits mlany lands and it's people but never stays longer than three days : a very intriguing, psychological anime that'll make you think about certain things more than often.

2. SaishuuHeiki Kanojo: more than a romance anime which it would appear at first but it becomes a very tragic story of impossible relations in impossible situations.

3. Melody of Oblivion : a very mysterious show about an alien race (so caleed Monsters) that took over earth, now a young boy discovers he's in fact a Melos warrior, the only ones that can stand up the the Monsters. Sounds standard so far? Well, watch one episode and you won't know where your head is any more, a complex story with apparently lots of mythological references, more than worth a try

4. Genshiken : A realistic view on a bunch of anime-otaku's : strongly recommended, see what otaku's in japan are like

5. Ghost in the Shell : Due to the sheer complexity of the underlying world, it's not really for kids, it has a view on a not-so-distant future which wan be not far of the mark, intriguing and often mind boggling.

Will, I PMed you the link to get Elfen Lied in case I'm not allowed to post licensed series publically. It's the best anime I've ever seen. The first episode is extremely violent and gory, but after that it's just moderate violence. There's some nudity throughout the series here and there. The story and characters are designed beautifully. You just gotta watch it, it's too good to pass up.
