yes, that was already commented on the trailer 2.
pretty much an homage of season 1, and can also give various meaning behind (reversal => the OP2 wasn't eerie at all, and was showing blooming flowers => opposite of death => opposition with OP1, etc etc)

Awesome episode. Sets the mood very nicely and concludes several missing stuff from the first season. The music was also very good.

Well nice to be able to understand more about what's being said now. But yeah seems like Rena missed the disaster by a small margin most likely being taken away to a hospital or police station first right after it went down.

Though hard to believe now that right after winning a big victory in stopping Rena. Rika only a few hours after the incident would be killed and the rest would follow shortly...

Liked the opening though, music was good and great images they put up there.

I have deliberately refrained from reading much about the new season, so I was quite pleasantly surprised by the first episode. I expected it to begin like the respective chapters of the game but now I didn't even know what were they going to show actually...and I liked that uncertainty. I am so happy I ddin't sccumb to the temtation to read the spoilers. So this is an anime only chapter and after this it will continue with the next chapters from the game? Or I got that wrong?

Anyway, for now I am not convinced by the music of the OP and ED, but the artwork seems to have taken a leap upwards...let's see when/if it will go down. The flashbacks were used in quite effective fashion, "old" Rena was quite interesting and it's nice to imagine people still being obsessed with the mystery 25 years later.

Yeah, that I know. But the thing is, all the minagoroshi-hen TIPS must be read when it's over? Because, with the other arcs, every TIPS has a corresponding episode. I want to avoid reading a TIP that should be read later.

Having finally seen the first episode myself, I would like to state a few things:

-People should stop saying how old Rena is in this episode, since no one really knows for sure and it is confusing the heck out of people all over the place.

-Rika and Hanyuu do NOT kiss in the ending, they just move their heads close together.

-The next episode previews are up on the official site for Kai, just without any kind of english subtitles.

-This episode was a intro to the new anime-only arc. In other words, the first episode of that new arc will be episode two.

-err... i think there isn't anything wrong to discuss about Rena's age. it is quite something to debate. with a margin of 4 years, (since time between Disaster and Reunion is between 21 and 24 years), things are much nice to talk about. (especially that it will give more hints to guess the other characters age)

-we don't know if they do or not, the animation is quite demon speed on this. (on purpose, of course)

-well... nothing to expect from them. but it doesn't look it requires subtitles (due it has almost nothing to do with EP2...)

-There certainly is nothing wrong with DISCUSSING how old she is, but all the posts I've seen here and other places where it has leaked are "here is a pic of Rena at 43!" and such. People believe it's true, and then we've got a situation.

-They don't. I watched the BSS fansub and it's pretty easy to tell.O_O

Basically, the problem are the hands, and you can tell they did on purpose to split the opinions among the fans. (i can easely imagine studio DEEN, grinning "you didn't like our first arts? okay, here you go, but it is up to you to determine the meaning of this " )

however, i think they did (much i don't care much about it anyway, it is an ED, not really canon material), since
1) the angle of their heads
2) rika was blushing

but meh, fantasy is always something in the debate

sounds like this ep has brought 2 legendary questions, with no answer whatsoever XD
