nvidia....7600GT? or 7800GT?
Can't decide......
i read up on anandtech.com and all they gave me was numbers. SOOO i thought i'd ask the almighty Animesuki Tech support forum! of course the 7800GT was better but more pricey for abotu 100 buck over.... If i get the 7600Gt, will it still be able to play quake 4, doom 3, and Day of Defeat on MAX quality? Or is that little extra boost worth the extra 100? 7600GT= $160 7800GT= $260? |

GS is indeed slower than GT of it's same type. But the 7800 GS should be just a fraction higher than 7600GT yet still have decent specs.
RaistlinMajere:I can only find the 7900GT for $300, care you provide a link (I might need it, thanks) Last edited by Stardash; 2006-04-25 at 18:25. |

Bought MSI GF7800 GT with 256 megs of RAM just a little while and been pretty happy with it. Quite a noticeable performance boost when comparing to my old GF6600 (256 RAM). Plus, when giving it in exchange, the price was quite reasonable too: 240 €.
Should last for the next five or six years. |

Are we talking about PCI-E video cards here?
- I think the 7800GS is AGP-only - The 7800GT is an older card than the 7600GT/7900GT. - I heard that overclocking a 7600GT can reach near-7800GT speeds. Something to think about. - I have a 7600GT, and I can play nicely at 1024x768 in a 17-inch monitor. - If you want to play at 1280x1024 or higher, I think you'll want a 7900GT. Almost same price as 7800GT, but newer and performs better.

yea, PCI-E i got an XPS 400. Came with a free 17 inch ultrasharp monitor. 7600GT seems like the winner i guess....for 160 bucks i cant go wrong, but will it be able to play my quake 4 and Day of defeat in ultra high quality?? |

Now that it has been replaced maybe someone out there just wants to get rid of their stock of the 7800 GTs with a sale or something. It is possible that he could get the best bang for the buck with a 7800 GT. http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=AA40280 260 $ with a 20$ rebate. (EVGA gives lifetime warranty, so it doesn't matter if it's refurb) This would drop him inbetween a 7900 GT and 7600 GT pricewise and performance-wise |

I've looked around and $312 was the best I found for the 7900 GT. Last edited by Lexander; 2006-04-28 at 14:50. |

Also consider a ATi Radeon X1800XT 512mb, these cards are a small fraction better then a 7900GT and cost NEARLY the same (~300 online).
link to newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102697 But if you still want a nvidia card, then just spend the extra for a 7900GT. It's more worth it. When you overclock a 7900GT you can surpass a 7800GTX Also what are the specs for the rest of your computer? There could be a chance that the other components in your computer are not fast enough to handle such a high card as a 78/7900. |
