Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Unicorns don't exist. And being an esteemed journalist yourself, you should know that.

Afghans turn to AK-47, fearing Taliban return or civil war

Afghan father-of-four Mohammad Nasir has a secret he's been keeping from his family.

The aid worker pulls a television bench out from the living-room wall of his Kabul home. Behind it is a carved out shelf, hiding what he hopes will keep loved ones safe when Western troops withdraw by the end of 2014 -- an AK-47 assault rifle.

They managed to put something up high enough to be called an orbit though it doesn't beep (ala Sputnik). Progress.

Delhi bus rape sparks national outrage
Quote:
Delhi (Dec 18, Tue): An uproar has erupted in India's Parliament over the gang rape on Sunday of a 23-year-old medical student on a city bus in the capital, Delhi.

Police said they have arrested four people, including the bus driver, and are looking for two more people.

The woman and her male friend boarded the bus on Sunday and were making their way back after watching a film in a mall in south Delhi.

The six other people on board allegedly harassed the woman for being out with a man at night. When her friend protested, they began beating him with iron rods, and then raped the woman repeatedly.

Doctors said there are blunt-force injuries on the woman's face and abdomen. They added that the iron rod used to beat her has caused irreparable damage to her abdomen. She is conscious now and is communicating with the hospital staff by scribbling.

The doctors said the next 48 hours are critical and described the injuries to her intestines and private parts as "extremely serious".

Delhi's rape figures are far higher than those of other comparable Indian cities, correspondents say. According to official statistics, 572 rapes were reported in Delhi last year. The police say they have registered 635 rape cases this year. The population of Delhi was about 16.3 million last year.

For a moment there I thought North Korea's dicator had granted a pardon to someone that had foolishly said he was wrong. I was wrong and such thought is worth of fairy tales.

Actually it would even be funnier if it deorbits and drops into some remote area of China. It would be like a stepchild who flung a toy arrow into the spinning fan and it flies off hitting the stepmother in the thigh just above the knee.

It would actually be good to see for real how China actually views NK, as a puppet against "Western influences" or as a real friend.

Given the size of the ''object'', how big could be the biggest chunk than would reach the ground, big enough to make real damage?

Business woman injured in sex romp gets worker's comp

Quote:
An Australian court has ruled that a woman who was injured while having sex in her hotel room during a business trip is eligible for workers' compensation, The Australian reports.

The unidentified woman, who was in her late 30s, claimed facial and psychological injuries after a glass light fitting fell from the wall above the bed in her hotel room while she was having sex with a male friend.

Oddly enough, if what you were doing was legal - WHERE overrides everything else in worker comp law. She was lodged in that hotel on company business engaged in a legal activity. It would be hell if the corporations get to control our sexual activities, look at how they handle dress codes O.o

So its amusing but legit.

Not reading the article beyond the title. Based solely on that, it's the stupidest shit I've read all day. That's not a solution at all. If a woman can do a job just as well as men, they should be paid the same. Not only that, but what about in-between jobs that aren't "man-stuff" or "dainty lady jobs"?

That was a pretty worthless waste of time. Stupid, wrong, and misogynist. If its a *rock* doing the work, it should be paid the same as anyone else doing an equally good job of it.

edit: Ah, its Jezebel -- she writes some Onion style satire. This is done tongue in cheek.

Gun sales spike: Virginia, Colorado record highest background check volume in years

Quote:
The talk of new gun control measures that has followed Friday's mass shooting in a Newtown, Conn., elementary school has gun buyers rushing to the nearest store and picking up new weapons, according to gun store owners and state police background check information.
On Saturday, Virginia state police fielded 4,166 requests for background checks, a 42 percent increase from the same Saturday last year and the highest number of transactions received in a single day since the program was implemented in 1989. Sunday's 1,828 background checks in Virginia represented a 43 percent increase from a year ago. Colorado also set a one-day record for background checks on Saturday with 4,200, the highest number since the program began in 1999.
Imagine if these are all approved....
